Hey all -
I ran in to my first experiance with (the apparently new) auto-name-banning software while creating a new character over the weekend. Being in a silly mood at the time, I came up with
Spikey The Frog
and received a response that one of the words or partial words violated A.nets naming policy. *Hunh?*
Ok, how about Spikey Frog.
No go.
It finally let me keep Spike Frog - not nearly as fun of a name.
Am I missing some current slang term here? Because I really have no idea how to make Spikey Frog into a rude/crude reference.
On a similier note, my son named one of his G F (he has no patience for names, random letters are fine for him...) - which failed the test. However, good old G Fs is fine, and currently terrorizing pre-Searing.
Anyone have a *clue* as to what this software is latching on to??
Naming Restrictions?

No idea as to how spikey is not kosher. G F could be tagged just for being single letters capitalized and seperated. To keep people from making disturbing words with spaces. Or it could be interpreted as 'girl friend', which, doesn't in my mind constitute anything negative.
Mumblyfish
Pikey, British slang for Gypsie.
Rayawni
no idea why it would do that...my b/f has named some stupid names and hasn't got into any trouble for it. I have seen worse ones like Beotch and stuff like that.

I tried making one earlier under the name of Conan The Barbarian...disallowed.
The same applied to Conan The Destroyer. In the end i chose Miss Daisychain.
It's hard enough trying to think of a great normal name without it already being taken.

You're talking about name's already taken while the thread is about "banned" names.
Suprisingly, Miss Daisychain is allowed...

I wonder if using 'the' in the middle is what caused it to get banned or at least unacceptable. I'll have to look up the naming convention but for some reason.
As far as Conan the Barbarian or Destroyer a) I wouldn't think a popular cartoon book hero turned movie making icon a 'normal' name, popular maybe not normal (when's the last time you heard Bill the bold in school?') and b) being copyrighted, I doubt that the name even if allowed in the beginning, would be able to continue if someone ever reported it.

I don't think theres a problem with the copyright, since I've seen someone named Infested Kerrigan(I think someone on these forums) and that is a name taken from Starcraft. I've also seen plenty of other references from other movies, games, etc.
