+1 Fire Magic, When Casting Spell (11%)

What does that mean?

Does it mean that 11% of my fire spells will be stronger?

How long will the bonus last?

Does it say (Chance 11%)?

If so, it means you have an 11% Chance to gain a +1 to FM per cast.

If not, *gobbles more fries*.

it's not the greatest bonus in the world, but one out of every nine fire spells you cast will do more damage. It's a nice little bonus, that doesn't cost you anything.

My wand has a far more appealing property, it speeds up ALL Spellcasting 8% of the time.

So 1 in 16 times I cast a spell, it will cast about 2.5 times as fast. It's nice to get a Meteor Strike off in 2 seconds

Not sure about your math there....for instance, if you take a d20 and roll it 20 times you are NOT guaranteed to roll a 20. It is possible that it will take 100 rolls, in fact, since EACH roll has exactly the same chance of rolling a 20 it is theoretically possible that you might never roll a 20. So, each spell having 11% chance does not at ALL mean 1 in x times you will get the bonus.

In average, yes... If you cast a very large number of spells, you'll see that about 1 in 9 spells you cast will get the bonus. However, there is no way to know which spell it will be...

I had the choice between:

Keeping my existing bonus (+7 armor vs. Elemental Attacks)
or
Putting this staff wraping on (the one who gives me +1 to fire spells, 11% chance)

Since i'm a Pyromancer, I thought that the second option was better...

Did I do right?

I'd go with the bonus, simply because i'm pretty sure the higher your skill level the more of an increase usually,(eg going from level 0-level 1 will give you like +3 dmg in everything it effects but going from 12-13 will give +8 or whatever . . . I should go check it out on my healer)

One thing you will find in the game is that many skill upgrades are based on "chance" this is actually a cool element. For example the item you mentioned is an 11% chance, there are actually similar items that also have a much higher chance, but are more rare to come by.

If you get a few piece of equipment that have various chances to "proc" (old skool term) you actually have an over all improvement of your character. The trick is to arrange those things on yourself skillfully to get the best effects.
