A question about Oink
theclam
(I am not sure if this is the right forum for posting this in so bear with me)
When doing the Gates of Kryta mission (and other stuff there) I would always get oink to follow me, as he is an invincible blocker, that does damage. But recently, I heard from someone that Oink screws up the item drops.
Is this true?

Keep an eye out, maybe sometimes you get a blank drop off of monsters or chests open but nothing comes out. If that's the case and you have no henchmen, oink is eating more than he's letting on.

I wouldn't be surprised if Oink did take some drops, as to help eliminate people taking him further than he's supposed to go (the town).

I doubt he screws up drops....even if he does, it's never been to any noticable degree.
Anyway, you need oink for the bonus, so bring him. Loot at the part of the game isnt worth fussing about.

I thought the Lightning Drakes in that area were considered good farming?
arnansnow
It isn't really worth it to farm them anymore, it takes too long to get to them and only the first time I did it, did I get any good items.

Seriously, what does a pig need anything for in the first place?
I'm sure there is plenty of mudd bogs in the jungle for him to lay in.

too long? there not far at all.. and to answer your question. NO ! oink does nto take any loot. i solo this area with him and every kills produces a loot drop for me to pick up..
the Lightning Drakes might not be right there were you spawn but the amount of them in there location and what they drop is well worth the short travel to get to them.

The quality of the drop depends on your level and the monsters level. The first tme you run an area the drops will be much better, cause your level is closer to theirs. As you progress in exp. the drop quality will get less and less. I would be worth while to go back and do a few times before you start to level higher

That's weird. If you were to run the same area over and over, only. If you were to run the Drakes over and over as your level got further away from theirs the drops will be come less and less and of lower quality.
The Quality of the drop depends on the monster level vs. your level. As you play the game the monster levels gets higher and so does your's, so the drops remain generally the same. The quality of the drop also factors in the difficulty of the monster. Regular monsters will drop typically a +/-1 level item on their drop, i.e. a level 5 monster may drop a level 4, 5, or 6 item. The more difficult the monster the better the drop will get, bosses and monsters of greater difficulty have a chance to drop an item that is +4-5 level's above their's. Resulting in a purple or gold drop, or an item with mods.

How many people have seen Oink spout "Rurik speak" ? He becomes Prince Rurik. It's probably the same hench script, and sometimes it really is Rurik but in his well-known piggie form. And when it goes this bugged, Oink is unusable... you walk him up to the kid and it doesn't trigger.

From what I heard and experienced, the Drakes have been bolstered and the drop rate lowered, so it's not that good to farm there.
Anyway, progressing the game is the best farming method
