Good Mesmer secondary for PVE?
Casonetto
I know its a hard question, I was thinking /warrior or /necromancer. I am open to advice as always.

Well, I'd suggest Monk (but I'm biased). A secondary healer is always welcome in a group and it will make it much easier to get into groups. As for a Warrior, remember that, as a mesmer, you don't have the armor to tank, and you generally shouldn't go into melee if you can help it.
Casonetto
Understood, Monk sounds about right...
Casonetto
Just to make sure, what about elementalist or necro?
Konquest
I have a Me/E based on damage dealing. I mostly use domination and fire spells. It rocks to have Arcane Echo and use it to cast 2 firestorms on a bunch of monsters. Add a chaos storm to the lot and you get roughly 50 hp lost per second. Or you can go on and take Earth damage and Inspiration to be on the more defensive and iterrupt side, but in PvE it's less important.

Check the mesmer+farming thread for some tips i guess. But Monk sounds good for a healer build, if you want to do good damage yourself AND still have some healing abilities i would look into Necro [my favorite up to now :P]
Morganas
There is no reason at all to take mesmer primary with monk unless you wanna rez fast, which is pointless in pve, as people shouldn't be dying in the middle of battle anyways if you can heal well. Go monk/mesmer if you're thinking of making a healer and like mesmer abilities.
Casonetto
So I couldn't be a Me/Monk and add smiting damage as well as healing to the usual mesmer repertoire and do PVE that way? Maybe if I broke it down like this...
Me/Ne with blood, death, fast casting and illusion
or
Me/Mo with smiting, healing, illusion and domination
Or is 4 too many attributes to put points into?

myself, I'm enjoying a mes/r with points in beastmaster, domination and a tiny bit in fast cast I'm thinking about adding either wilderness survival or marksmanship for the 4th attribute.
I use empathy, and few hexes and my pet does more damage than a cane could do.

Not much point in using a mesmer primary unless you're going to take advantage of fast casting. (Or you like the lingerie armor =P)
A Mesmer/Warrior for Illusionary Warrior build is somewhat fun although not very effective in Tombs or HoH.

Depending what you want to play.
A mesmer, is useful for fast casting, that however does nothing to warrior (except healing signet).
If you like to be reliable and be a debuffer, Me/N is the way to go.
If you want to be a damage dealer, be Me/E,W,R.

Is the de-buffer strategy more for PVP? If that's the case I will drop the idea.
Morganas
Mes/Nec debuffer, with curses, fast casting, and inspiration for example, is very effective for pve if you coordinate with your teammates, and call all the targets. Some battles can last a long time in pve, and if you can debuff large numbers of foes, and call the targets on the others, you can make a battle go very smoothly.
Just don't expect to solo farm with him (if you're smart you may be able to, but I dont' know a way).

Why must mesmers have armor too low for tanking? Put on Physical or Elemental Resistance and it shouldn't be too bad.

Monk secondary is great for ressing during battle. I like mesmer skills too much to bother with second professions though, unless I'm having some fun (illusinary weapons) or want a pet... once again, the pet is just for the hell of it and isn't normally taken in groups.
There are pure mesmer farming builds around, as are me/e builds.. and a number of others I haven't explored yet.

Me/N is fun. So many possibilities in PvP... but for PvE, I found that I only used my Necro 2nd for blood magic. Mesmers lack self-heals outside of Ether Feast, so I leaned on health stealing from the blood magic line to keep myself topped off. Monk probably would have been better, but I wanted to unlock Necro skills. I'd recommend going Monk or Ele for a 2nd with Mes for PvE

Mesmer is so freakin awesome, you can use any secondary with it and still be awesome. For example:
Me/E - use it with the easy-spam spells
Me/N - curses+fast casting? gg
Me/Mo - need I say, protection > 12 is usually unnecessary, and divine favor doesn't add THAT much of a boost with protection.
Me/R - Fragility + condition causing arrows. Or just having that awesome pet is sweet.
Me/W - Illusionary weaponry (pvp) or use the stances.

Zehly is wise and true. Any secondary profession works well with a Mesmer primary. It's just a great primary profession.
Although I love all flavors of Mesmer, I've had the most success and fun with Me/W (tactics), Me/Mo (protection), and Me/N (curses). The Me/W gives you so many defensive shouts and stances, it really works well with the Mesmer's primary flaw: high "squishiness".
