A question about damage

My Ranger/Elementalist finally hit level 20 and I could see that in the desert I would no long be able to use my pet so I set up for what I thought would be my near end-game set of skills; having saved a lot of points for this time.

I had read the R/E guide in the posts section and went with:
+11 Markmanship w/ item
+10 Expertise
+10 Fire Magic
+1 Wilderness Survival w/ item

And I use normally preparing for battle:
Conjure Flame
Kindle Arrows (could use Ignite I suppose)
and start firing using:
Power Shot
Dual Shot

Where is all of the damage that I thought I would get? I am using a Firey Short Bow of Markmanship that does 14-24 damage ++ the goodies and I am amazed at how little damage I am doing.

Any advice as to how I can tweak this build to increase my damage output would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I am talking about my damage output now, not after progressing and finding some new elite skills.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

to increase your damage output, use ignite, and use poison arrow(E) instead of power shot.

also get some fire skills.

Also, there's a number of fire-resistant enemies in the desert.

Get a flatbow or a longbow.. you get more reach and when you fire at max distance you will see some nice numbers popping up. And yes.. poison is a must.

I have a Poisoner's Longbow that has:
13-25 damage and lengthens poison on foe

I could use this instead of the Firey Short Bow and get a little more range but will that negate the Conjure Flame which only works "if you are wielding a fire weapon"? Or will I still get the fire damage?

Additionally, should I use Poison Arrow or use Apply Poison? By the way, I do not have the elite Poison Arrow skill yet.

Additionally, should I use Conjure Flame, followed by Ignite Arrows, followed by Apply Poison? In other words try for all of these skills to be going at the same time?

Thanks.

I sure would appreciate a little more advice regarding my last proposals.
