So THAT'S how to get to Galrath/Temple of Ages!
Numa Pompilius
I've tried a number of times to do the Villainy of Galrath quest from Hot Springs, but the endless supply of undead lvl 20 monsters quickly killed off my low-level henchmen and then me - even at lvl 20 I can't take them on myself. Heck, most of the time I couldn't even get to the Black Curtain.
Today I was filling in blanks in the map, and went north from Fishermans Harbor, and to my amazement I suddenly found myself at the Temple of Ages, and a quick detour brought me to Galrath.
I'm not sure if the higher level henchmen made the difference, or the route, but anyway - it was much easier.
Just a random musing.

you got to the temple of ages from Fisherman's Haven? How did you cross the water? Ah, you must have gone around the river. You could have gotten to the temple of ages from Bergen. Just go due west through the undead.

I did the reverse (got to Fisherman's Haven from Temple of the Ages), but as I recall, there are some bridges across the river in the Talmark Wilderness. The journey to/from TotA is about the same distance from either Hot Springs or Fisherman's Haven.

But either way can be tough if you don't have good runners.

done it with the henchies from bergen and was not that hard, you just don't have to take out every mob you encounter and you reach it "easy".
counts for both, galrath quest and the travel to ToA

Well, there were some hot spots, but I could fight my way through from Fishermans, but it's -for me- completely impossible going from Hot Springs.
The hardest patch going from FH was when I crashed a a beach party of about 20 Icesomething Skale spamming chilblanes; the party wiped twice there. After that it wasn't too rough; henchmen died, but we weren't wiped again.
Going from Hot Springs is probably easier for monks, as they can smite undead for double damage.
(Speaking of that, I found what I think is a bug too: shatter hex does double damage to undead, like it's holy damage.)
Oh, and I found a fun thing you guys might want to try *SPOILER*
You know that army of forest minotaurs and trolls in the valley before you get to Galrath? Well, if you aggro them and run they'll follow you forever, so you can train them on the army of wizards and rangers guarding the wizard tower. They don't really stand a chance against the horde of necromancer wizards, but it's quite fun to see them try.

I just took the henchmen from the Temple and ran down to Galrath with my lvl 20 ranger/monk. It worked out real well. I didn't die until I got close to Galrath, and it then didn't get through to him completely until I had -60 DP, but I did finally beat him.
So, Galrath is beatable with the henchmen from the Temple.

Does anyone have a map that shows where ToA and UW are?

The UW is nowhere basically. You get there by using the statues at the Temple of Ages.
I use these maps however, hopefully they help you: http://www.promisance.biz/guildwars/

Hahaha. When my guild was still active and we decided to do Galrath from the Temple, my group died and dispersed all around the wizard's tower and when I was the last alive, I just made a break through all of Galrath's guards and shot a single harmless arrow at him. He didn't die, of course, but it still completed the quest for my entire party. Hahahaha.

Hehe, me and Kuku Monk ran to ToA last night. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be and we both had -60% dp by the end. The good thing is thought that we managed to get there after clearing a both through the mobs and we were both only level 17. It was good fun

me and my roomates finally decided to do the Galrath quest last night.. and here is a wee story about it...
We left FH and got to ToA no prob. But after there and on the way to Galrath wow lol.. It was so much fun we had me 19W/N 19N/Me and 19Mo/E with 5 henchies... We got to the mass of oak hearts and minotaurs wow that was a crazy fight.. all henchies died almost immediatly and us 3 managed to take the rest.. We had no idea that all those mobs were in front of Galrath lol.. We first charged up and took out a named then got assaulted by all the rangers and necro's at once i think it was close to 20 that agroed us.. well all henchies died again and us 3 escaped. We went back and took out the necro's with some careful pulling I might add.. Then moved to those damned rangers and we wiped.. all got ported back to the beggining of the map with the henchies sittin at 60% more n likely and the N/Me was at 60%.. me and the Mo were only at 13% so we went for another shot.. cept we cleared the rest of the map first to bring our debt back up.. We got back to the rangers and proceded to wipe them out and boom they run into there friends and the henchies followed agroing prolly 10 more GAH... us 3 ran on the spot and left the henchies to die.. I left the N and Mo way back and pulled the rangers off the hill way off the hill hehehe.... and we killed em.. We were unable to rez the henchies cause they would just agro the mobs that camped there corpse.. Just side stepped the mobs and charged at Galrath we killed him and bam we went back and finished the quest and we all dinged 20 Yaaa oh Happy day.. all in all it took us prolly 4-5 hours to complete this.. Way worth it so much fun and new strategies made great great night...
sorry if my spelling and grammer ofends anyone I know I suck..

I ran to ToA with henchies from Hot Spring at level 14 =P.
Using W/E is not that hard to run, I just focus all of my points to Strength + Earth. The hardest part is getting through the two swamps in Black Curtain (going from the lower right path, there is two possible paths going to Black Curtain from Cursed Lands) to avoid the much higher level mobs. With Sprint + Endure Pain I can easily run pass the groups and groups of undead while the henchies were blocked and started fighting (god bless them for the sacrifise). When the mobs swamp me, I simply use Armor of Earth to protect myself and use Whirl Wind to knock them down then start to run again. Took me ~20 minutes to get to ToA; it was fun. After getting to ToA, I grabbed ALL the henchies and clear the cursed area of all mobs (they are all higher level than me, then I guessed I shouldn't be there =P).
