Anet, please give us a in-mission "kick" ability!
Talesin Darkbriar
Read the boards here.
Story after story of jerks and malcontents joining unsuspecting groups and then blackmailing them to either capture signet skills, gain them access to the next area, or simply demanding coin for services rendered. Noncompliance results in destroying the group and its progress up to that point.
The truly awful wait until near the end of a mission to extort their demands.
Elegant solution:
Make the "kick" function persistent.
Currently it only functions in the zones before the mission or quest is started. Make this function persistent so that nasty players can be punted at any time in the adventure.
I've been incredibly lucky so far - I've only had a few malcontents start acting up immediately upon joining before the mission/quest, and have kicked them without further notice.
But the tales told these days on the boards make me cringe. See the riverside inn for nasty examples.
As the system currently functions, it encourages and promotes negative behavior.
Please give players the flexibility to cull the bad seeds from the group at anytime.
Please add comments and suggestions as desired all!
Best Regards,
Talesin

The problem with making it last, is that the blackmailers will go to the very end with a group, and threaten to kick them unless they give money. So this isn't a really good idea.

if somebody does that to me, I'd leave anyway and find a better group. I have other things to do than waste my time than going " um I'm broke, etc etc " if they do that I say "bye bye make do without my skills!" and hope they fail it.

A suggested "kick" method that has minimal abusive potential:
Dispute Resolution via Splitting Instances

It won't stop everyone for sure; there is always a way around anything.
However, it would discourage what is currently common practice.

That could create problems all in it self: Group leader kicks entire group right before completion of mission/quest.
There is always a way to abuse/harass others and always people that are going to do it.

Actually I agree completely.
Only because I've ran through from droknars->coppermines and had my henchmen get stuck in the wall and then of course i die.. then they're sitting there alive and they don't rez.
Happened to me twice. I will never run that with hench again ^^;

Someone had proposed disabling dropping and trading of items and gold during missions. That way you couldn't get blackmailed because you simply cannot pay up in any way whatsoever.

Too much leader power is scary though...if the group wants to kick someone, it should be a party vote of some kind.

I, like many of you, have thought alot about this problem. I have yet to come up with any solutions that could not be abused.
Unfortunately, I think we are just going to have to 'grin and bear it.' I have not seen any solutions posted that would be reasonable yet. I really think that once a 'kick' option was implemented things would get much worse.
Just remember, when its all over you get to click 'Leave.'

Although the abuse and griefing is a pain now a days, I have to go with Luna on this one. Too much power for one person can be a bad thing. Especialy in the hands of the griefers. Make it democratic. Party vote to kick somone. That way it would take almost a full party of griefers just to harass and/or blackmail a couple of people. That would be fairly self-defeating to blackmail for a handful of gold.
The split instance is a great idea as well. All main points seem to be covered in that, I hope ANet takes it into consideration. Kudos to IxChel! ^^
