I am considering buying a collector's edition of Guild Wars. I already have a GW account (standard) and would like to confirm a few points first:
1: Can I apply my new collector's edition status to my old characters, keeping the old character info but gaining the divine aura, etc.?
2: Will the above process free up my old account number so that it may be used as a second account? i.e. By converting an existing standard account to a collector's edition account, do I end up with two usable accounts, or just one for the price of two games?
Changing to a Collector's Edition Acct.

supposedly in one of their recent updates. they stated that your able to add that collectors key to a retail account to get the divine aura.
check the updates section on guildwars.com
i havent tried it myself. but yup. by buying the collector's its a separate/second account.
so make your 2nd account first. dont just add the key to retail account.
again. read the update section on their main website 1st.
this is what the page says:
(on Wed.june.8 update)
Added the option of attaching Collectors Edition account keys onto existing retail accounts to unlock the Divine Aura.
-Victory is Mine!

Thanks for the reply.
Wow, ANet tech support is fantastic! I got an answer back from them on this subject within an hour. The official answer is this, in case anyone else was wondering:
"You have two options if you already have a regular edition and just bought a collectors edition:
1) You can add the collectors key to your regular edition, this will enable the Divine Aura for your current characters. But you will only have 1 account, and up to 4 characters on that account. Your regular key will not get removed from the account.
2) You can create a 2nd account using the collectors key, this would enable Divine Aura on the characters made on that account but not on your original account. Doing this you would have 2 accounts, each with up to four characters."

Ugh, I hate necro-ing threads, but it has to be better than making a completely new thread when there are already tons of threads on this topic.
My question is this: If I was to buy the Nightfall Collector Edition, and add it to my existing account to get the divine aura, would my existing tyrian and canthan characters get it also, or will it only affect elonian characters? Sounds stupid, but wanted to make sure.
