Stolen drops... Can anything be done?

While doing quests in Underworld, a gold max storm bow dropped for me. I died quickly after I saw it dropped. There was only one person left alive. This person waited around for about 5 minutes, then picked up my bow and proceeded to rez one of the monks.

I'm doubtful anything can be done about this, but I felt like letting everyone know just how pathetic people can be sometimes. I really want this person to be banned, although I guess it is pretty unlikely anything can be done. I took a couple screenshots, one with the person standing next to the bow while it said that it still belonged to me, and one with the text saying he had picked it up. The user name was Liela Eolithic of guild [RR], playing a R/Mo. Any comments or suggestions?

I suggest that they just never let non-quest items become public...

Agree 150% I had a max damage purple Chaos Axe drop in FoW and, being the good team player I am, ignored it to keep fighting... I died eventually and there was only one monk left. He did not rez the entire party until the axe turned public and picked it up, left the game.

Beep like that make me really HATE pugs.

woah thats mean if i was in that situation i probably would of unleased the Spell of Thousand swears lol but yea guess there always will be mean people like that and i must agree with yust not making drops change into public other than quest items this way those people will be sacked and all they can do is beg to give it too you (still annoying but easier to deal with since you got the item ^^ )

Wow, maybe you guys just met the worse of the worse players perhaps?? From my experience, I died, had a purple drop turned public, someone took it. Then later I said it was originally mine, so he checked back the message log, confirmed it and returned it to me. There are some nice guys out there. =)

One of our Ele's left our UW grp last night and gave the defacto leader 80k to split with the group since he needed to go guild pvp and felt guilty, needless to say the kid bounced with all the cash. I saw it coming so I just shruged it off, but boy did the rest of the group erupt.

The only time I have picked up items that weren't mine, where when the entire group was alive, and the person whose item it was, didn't pick it up at all. Then I consider it fair to pick it up, instead of having it go to waste.

I agree, kind of. I think that other people should be able to see the drops, but in no way, shape, or form be able to touch it. You know how when you come out of a mission it tells you the unclaimed items? I think it should do that every time you go through a portal, and the items never lose their ability to be reserved for a player.

My party had died, and the dude with res, the only guy left alive, refused to res the monk unless he gave up a purple armor drop. He told us he had all day, and proceeded to wait us out into saying yes. Then left us high and dry.

Had another situation where all but two party members dies, so three of them just left because they figured we'ld all be dead soon. Ha! I resed one, a monk, and they rezed the other and us three fought hard and made it most of the way through the mission that gets us to Sanctum Cay. It's a pity. Had they stuck around we would've won.

there are alot of times that people just don't want to pick up crafting materials or white items....hell I've even seen people say screw it to blue drops. But Purples and Gold should never go public....they should ALWAYS be reserved for the person it dropped for, unless they leave the party...at which point the drop would become public property.

If they make them always private, there are still ways to blackmail people to give you that item.
But making them private is a good idea.

You died silly. How can you get mad at that? You are lucky he waited 5 minutes.

so once the character dies, according to you, it's ok for someone in your party to steal your drops??

Someone dieing and then you blackmailing them to get their item is probably (and if not should be) against GW rules.

There are always lowlife scumbags in any game same as rl,making the loot private and unable to be looted by anyone else for the entire mission is the way to go.If a person leaves or disconnected well thats a whole other ball game. Also make sure your friends guild any anyone else who will listen knows. If the trash can't get a group he can't steal.Far as i am concerened he should be banned.

What should be done is that the timer that counts the 5 minutes right now should not work when you die. If you are dead, the item should remain private, then once you are alive again, the timer starts to tick again...

Either way, there will always be some kind of abuse... :/

There can never be a system that can't be abused.

If you make it, they will abuse it.

I saw this happen in a group I was in. I was pissed for the other player. I was running up to rez player1 (the group separated). Right when I got there a purple item next to player1, reserved for player1, became public. Player2, who was standing next to player1's body the whole time, picked it up. Player1 started saying "give that back" and such but player2 ignored him and left the group.

That's the first time I ever saw that happen. It really pissed me off.
