What kind of cosmetic upgrades would you cough up cash for?

Well? Personally, I think that is one thing this came could really use. I would cough up serious piles of cash to tailor the look of my charecter to my liking. I mean, customizable scar patterns, tattoos, different armor, hairstyles, so on and so forth. Customizable or pre-set emotes that you can purchase would be cool, I think it would be cool to be able to buy something to make you stand out on the battlefield too. Perhaps your charecter giving off a radiant light of your color choice would be up your alley? Perhaps a slight trail of tracers following your elementalist would be great? A slight fog cloud around your warrior?

I also wish the look of weapons could have little visual effects added on to them. Perhaps have the entire weapon made of ice, or on fire (like that one sword) or dripping blood (may seem gross, but fitting for necros) or have the wands able to shoot something other than a crappy ball. I dunno, these are all just off the top of the head ideas to get my own thread rolling.

You've got a good idea there. I was very suprised to find that my character was pretty much unmodifiable once I started out!

I would pay good for some in-town clothing. You come into town, you stash your weapon, how about making a statement and having some form of clothing we can wear? And why is it that we can't change our hairstyles? These are easy to implement, and would be a cool little addition. Another one that bugs me, is how come my snow-white necro can hang out in the Crystal Desert for weeks, and never get a tan?

In City of Heroes I spent ALL my influence (money) on new costumes.. hair do's, changing colours patterns styles... Its probably the most addictive element in that game.

so yea.. your right, people would probably spend ALL their money on looking unique... consider the clothes business as it stands anyway... (in real life i mean) I think nothing of spending £100 on a new top.. everyone wants to look different, and everyone hates it when they see someone else wairing the same item of clothing that they are...

imagine how many people out there who get pissed off when they see another guild with the same cape design.

Trouble is though my friend... this doesnt appear like it will ever happen in this game, apparently the animation work is pretty intense so if they havnt already done it, then any 'new' clothing would be token changes.

me and many others would pay just to be able to customize our characters appearance after creating them by using the same character customizing screen that is already in the game

sure hope the devs put that in the game real soon. there's no reason for it not to be.

see this thread for further reading about that

I fully support this, as I would like to stop being brown and only brown (druid armor).

I would pay to be able to "Craft" a different base color for my armor. Even if it was only the primary dye colors that were used in this crafting.

First weapon upgrades also changing the appearence of a weapon.

Fiery hilt creating fire around the blade.
Barbed hilt putting barbs on the hilt. you get the point

Being able to pay to have your guild design placed ONTO a shield (thereby customising it for you, so no-one else can use it)

Multiple areas of dying on clothes/armor (I mean, only 1 area? WTF)

an offhand weapon that is in fact a large banner+pole. (perhaps with an effect, or just cosmetic!)

individual scalable body parts (as a 3D modeller I know this is not exactly difficult to do to an already designed model, unless the vertex/faces are screwed up!)

as above, a stylist giving you the option (for a fee) to change your hair, and color to any of the previously available styles (perhaps even styles from another profession, providing the head models are universal in dimensions)

and now for my major beg, plea, prey to god, deal with the devil to get it into the game idea :

A Weapon Forger

for a rediculous sum of money, plus some of the hardest to find materials you can have a totally custom weapon created for you. let me explain.

there are basicly 3 parts to each weapon.

Sword

Blade, Hilt, grip/pommel

Axe

Blade/s, haft, grip

Hammer

Head, Haft, Grip

Bow

String, arms, grip

staff/cane/rod etc.

Head, pole/body, grip

say you head to a weapon forger with 10K and 100 steel ingots and 150 wood planks, 50 leather squars and 10 obsidian shards (dont ask why)

you could have a sword forged for you.

the following screen gives you options of say 15 different blade looks, 10 hilts, and 10 pommels.

you choose the 3 you wish and have them forged.

in you inventory you now have 3 items that need to be combined, but before doing so, you can apply dye to each seperate piece. you then join all 3 peices together to create a totally customised sword of your own look.

say you want to have a fortitude pommel on this sword. you would have to buy this from the forger also (for a high price) to be created along with the pommel part.

salvaging these weapons would have a chance of keeping one of the three sections, or some of the original materials used to craft them.

the damage these weapons would do is of course max, due to the cost. but the extra modifiers would depend on the rare material you suppied to the forger. say 50 ibsidian shards would get you +10% to +15% damage while you health is above 50%. that sort of thing. with the actual modifier outcome being random between a set number.

as you can see I've thought about this alot. being someone who makes games myself whenever I play games I immediately start coming up with ideas to add to the game (I cant help it)

obviously dont take the prices I have mentioned above seriously, there just quick off-the-top-of-my-head numbers with no real thought put into them!

After actually sticking with my ranger, I realized her hair style really sucks :P It flops around in an unnatural way, and I just wish I could switch it to something a bit nicer

You think your hair is bad?
1. I have a long hair tied together, that intersects the guild cape, making it look really bad.
2. I have druid armor which equals brown, nothing else just brown.
3. Most of the head equipment for rangers intersect the head looking really bad

If you just have bad hair I envy you.

I would pay for (or at least give lip service to) any and all cosmetic upgrades including hair color/style, clothing, accessories, non-combat items (cane, top hat, teddy bear, wine bottle) to carry in town... anything... whatever diversifies the population.

People are herd animals, but at the same time, we want to stand out from the crowd. That's why people will spend several thousand dollars to "trick out" their car, when it does absolutely nothing.

Hence, ANY form of customization in the game will be good. Hell, I spent 15K on dye just so I could get a mix that not a lot of people use, and so my Gladiator armor looks slightly different than that of the guy next to me.

I'd pay billions of gold if I could customize stuff. I already mentioned this in a thread a few days ago, if Anet wants to create money sinks, they need to allow customization and charge people through the nose for it.

This will destroy gold faster than even resetting it on the server would.

I too would like a bit more customization for the look of my characters.
It is possible, however, to be creative with mixing and matching armor types and using some creative dye combinations.

My level 20 W/N uses a knight's cuirass combined with platemail on every other section of his body. I've used red dye everywhere to get a very cool look that matches my guild colors. I can't recall ever having seen anyone with the same look.

Yeah, it was a bit pricey...but I'm vain about my characters looking good.

The only problem with using dyes, is that with some armor (druid armor is one example) the dye doesn't change much.

I used to play RO, and I'd say that 40% of my money went to useless things that looked good on my character. It was enough to outfit another character in the absolute best gear too XD

I really want a new hairstyle and color. Hell, I change my IRL hair whenever I darn well please. Why can't I do the same with a bunch of pixels?

Wow, I think the response is all good ideas, I think when it comes to forging swords or weapons, the ups on it would have to be ones that you tossed in yourself, so if you have a cruel axe haft, you can have a cruel axe, if not your haft has no ups yet is still comestically customized to your liking. This would also be the ultimate gold sink and would help the inflation problem.

I would love to be able to purchase something like a sword holdster(sp?).So that when im in town, my equipped sword can be inside the sword holdster, instead of it being invisible.
