I'm really curious about what colors/mixes look like on the various armors. Please post a picture of your dyed armor (failed experiments welcome ) and what color/mix you used.
I'll post a couple of screens of my dyed armors later when the website I use for photos is back up (down due to maintenance).
She wears 15k Pyro from Granite Citadel. It is dyed with one silver + one red to make a pink color. I imagine on a metal armor it might be a glittery-metallic looking pink, but ele armor is cloth. The front trim does not dye. Only the part above it. It's more visible on the skirt since its trim is wider thatn the vest's. I think she looks very feminine this way. I don't really like the lace arms and legs since they tend to look a bit stree-walkerish.
The mesmer collector's armor dyed black. Used enchanter's pants because the stylish ones...weren't so stylish.
It has weird dark green patches which shows that the designer had to "touch up" certain areas (sloppy artwork) of the original green model.
Shown in this picture is the crown shaped spot above the belt and the top rim of the boot. Also there's spots around the wrist area.
very pretty, dansamy, I like the different intensity of pink used. I too, noticed that certain dye mixtures show different results depending on the armor...it's really quirky.
Thank you, Luna. Yes, some of these armors are a real pain to dye. With the earlier color, I guess it wasn't "intense" enough to change that trim very much. I have a friend whose character name is "Elementalist Barbie". Looking at Killashandra now, I'd have to say she looks like a Barbie doll with the blond hair and the pink. I wonder what would have happened if I had used dye remover first, and if that affected this new color in any way.
On my male elementalist armour, dye applies without refence to what colour was on there before. That is, using dye remover first makes no difference.
I use Yellow+Green too and it looks a lot brighter on me than on that necro.
I found a really nice deep pink using Blue+Blue+Red, it looked great on my Elementalist, but on my necro it came out dark purple.
It seems that the problem with dying is that the dye "adds to" the armor's base color instead of overwriting it.
Yes, but only for some classes. Elementalists it replaces.
Silver + Purple for the tattoo.
Silver + Blue for the wrist wraps
Silver for the pants.
I think the way that Silver kind of fades the Purple looks great for the tattoo. Just using plain purple is WAY too bold for a tattoo. I think the faded look is much more realistic.
Also, I don't really dig the way the monk looks with all-tattoo armor. Chest only or Chest + Arms is plenty... Seeing my guy running around in a loin-cloth just doesn't do much for me
This one is the 15k male Pyro's armor, dyed with a red+black mix. I especially like this one.
This is the result of me being bored, having boring armor, and having lots of random dyes taking up space in my storage.
I believe on the chest and legs I used a mix of blue and green, although I can't be sure. The boots used purple orange and one other color, and I can't remember for the life of me what I used for the gloves/bracers. The helm is red + green. I thought this looked deliciously absurd, and so I went on to dye the shield green and the sword purple, but the shield's ingame model didn't really change at all.
