I've looked everywhere...

...but I still cannot find any solid information on how to get the Tapestry Shred from Gwen. I've Googled it and Yahooed it and nothing. "Do not be scared of asking for knowledge" it says, so please, bare with me.

I have given her a new flute and a new cape. I let her follow me. I have given her flowers, so many flowers. I have given her flowers one after another (I tried with four, then with five). I have given her flowers at intervals (most flowers I give her as soon as I pick them up). I have taken her everywhere and I have let her heal me. What else do I need to do? On a previous character, she just handed it over.

Heck, I've even stood still for a good half hour just watching her spout random nonsense. Nothing is working.

Yes, I know, the quest is broken, but I'm a perfectionist and I really don't want to leave Pre-Searing without it (and I love this character I'm playing with right now, and starting over is so tedious and boring due to my perfectionism).

Okay, I guess I'll probably get flamed now for creating another Gwen thread, but please, if anyone has ANY information that might help, I'm all ears (or eyes, whatever).

Just give her the flowers. It's always worked for me, and I think I've gotten over 20 tapestry shreds

Seriously, I've spent the whole seventeen hours that I've been in Pre-Searing giving her the flowers that I've found.

Maybe it's class specific or something, try it with a new character and you might be able to get it.

I don't really want to start over, even if it is just to get the Tapestry Shred, since I doubt you will be able to use it with a different character (like Althea's Ashes etc.) I'm an Elementalist by the way, so I'm wondering if you got it.

What is a tapestry shred?? And what does it do?

It's a quest item that Gwen gives you. It currently does nothing, since the quest is broken.

I have had the same issue, its seen to be radom or a combination. With my monk I just gave up. Gave here every flower I could find plus a new fulte and cape nothing, made an elemental to try out and gave her a flute and 3 flowers and she gave it to me.so if you dont it get just make a extra charcter to try to get it then push him/her over to post and save it in storage than delete the charcter, unless you already used all four slots.

Reading a lot of superstition here...might be a combo, might be a class.... Might need to make another character. People! Its random! Just keep trying.

Maybe if I let her follow me for exactly 13 minutes and 13 second, and if Im a necro, and if I then give her 13 flowers...I will get it!!! (hehehe)

No one yet knows what the Tapestry Shred, Gwen's Broken Flute (post-searing), or the Girl's Tatter Cape are for. They may have a later use, like if you find where Gwen is in the living realm or UW, or if you happen to find Gwen's father (who died when she was 7), but neither of those are possible yet and everyone is in the dark about how to use them.

I gave her about 5 flowers all at once to get my tapestry thread.. also, watch what she says when you do it. You might have to click on her again.

My first character never got a tapestry either and I gave her everything. This happened with my second char.

Today, I bought seven flowers from other players. I gave them to her all at once, and she gave the same response she always does (although I can't remember it). I clicked on her afterwards, and nothing. I spam-clicked her until I got bored. This is really getting me down. I even asked ANet, but I've had no response yet (and it's been more than a day, so I don't know what to think about that).

Grr.

The only other thing I can think of was I was standing right outside Ascalon when I did it...

As was I . I think she should just hand it over when you give her the first flower, or just one flower, because I've spent hours trying to find them, all for nothing.

My third character got the tapestry. I treated her the same with all three thus far, got her a new flute, gave her all the flowers I found. I received the tapestry very quickly with my third character. I hadn't had time to build up the 200 guild to buy the cape yet. My third character is a Necro, my first two were Mesmer and elementalist. Don't know what to make of it.

Me either. It's annoying because I got it so easy with that other character.

EDIT - Interestingly, I got it with my old Necro character. Maybe I was so ugly that Gwen just handed it over out of fright.

I've already done all of that, ages ago. I gave her the broken flute, then the fixed one and then a cape. Then I spent hours looking for flowers to give her, and nothing still.
