Fix the Beast Masters!
UsagiNoSenshi
I'm playing a beast master build, just to prove it can be done... i see some major problems. The skills are lacking, and the biggest problem so far, you pet isn't infused. ... yeah that's not good later on. I think it would be great if a pet could have maybe a single peice or armor or something, not a big boost but something, and then you could infuse them. it seems smart to me, i mean my pet is my weapon, it's not fair if it dies because some Mursaat came on the screen.
it's like they never fully finished this build, i'm pretty disapointed.

I think it'd be great if your pet had an infused property added at the same time you recieve yours on your armor.
UsagiNoSenshi
i know, i figured it wouldn't be a problem, then bam! down goes my strider the second a Mursaat looked at him ~ ~

Having your pet infused is really stupid. Think about it.
I think they should change the update so the Seer says something like "We have enough Spectral Essence to infuse all pieces of your armor. Also, it seems as if the aura given off by the Essence protects your animal companion."

Well infusion only affects the PvE portion, so I'd have to say continuity.
Takkun
Ive had some serious troubles with the pet shouts..... how do I know if they are working on my pet?!?!? He seems to be doing the same thing over and over again to me with or without the shouts.
UsagiNoSenshi
things like call of haste and feral lunge? if a lunge works there is a graphic for it, like feral makes a green swirl around your pet, and bestial pounce makes a blue sparkly swirl. if you watch your pet you can tell.

glad to see others see this as a problem, and we really aren't picky about how it gets fixed. ^^;

Pets already have a stupidly huge amount of HP (at least my Snow Wolf does). However, since they have no armor, attacks do max amount of damage, so they'll get hit a good bit. Infusion would almost have to be described as some sort of aura for a pet.
Elena
i agree for as long as i know ive played beastmaster and grow attached to playing it and later on il' be sad because my pet gets mauled in 1 hit making it useless
UsagiNoSenshi
it makes me sad, i don't know how i'm going to get through the ring of fire or whatever, i've hears it's all mursaat T_T i hope they can fix this soon or i'll have to stop playing my ranger. Random allies are infused, like the dwarf king, why not pets?

Beast Mastery isn't the only attribute that gets totally shafted at times:
Hexes and conditions receive penalties against bosses.
Enchantment monks are often rendered useless in some areas where the amount of enemies with enchantment removal are numerous.
Being a Minion Master sucks horribly in areas where most of the monsters don't leave corpses.
Being a caster around monsters with interrupts is pretty frustrating. They have the speed to interrupt even your 1 second cast spells, and they do it pretty often. I really REALLY hate a large mob of enemies with Distracting Shot, as a caster. I've actually had 5/8 skills interrupted with extended recharge because of that, and most were 1 second or less casting times.
So you have a few missions and areas where your pet is highly ineffectual, and while I don't think anybody else has entire missions where they can't do much with a certain build [Except for a Minion Master, in which case there ARE missions where most of the enemies just fizzle into the ground instead of leaving a corpse], otherwise, your pet is pretty all-purpose.
Not saying nothing should be done, just providing a few parallels for thought.

And yes, pets do need infusion. I'm all for continuity, but infusion is so minor a point, and from a gameplay standpoint (Which trumps all, IMO) it is completely not fair that basically an -entire character build- is useless due to one insane skill. It doesn't matter how much HP the pet has, Spectral Agony basically annihilates them.
eA-Zaku
Well...you could have friends drag you through the Mursaat missions...but for PvE'ers yeah that would suck bad. Not being able to participate in the last few missions of the game

and yeah it would suck if i had to have my guild carry me through the rest of the game, i really don't want to do that
Doctor Anomalo
i started a new thread on having armor for pets. great flavor, helps keep the pet alive, and a sink for gold (15k pet armor!).

Just want to add my support to this thread. I had brought up my beastmastery build on another thread in this section:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=21310
I've tried to keep up with all the beastmastery threads and have a list of links to the topic I've been building from this forum:

Pet Armor

. . .
There's been others, and I'm sure a search would deliver more hits as well. Let's hope infusion for pets is looked at somehow. I did notice one poster mentioned a dev said pets are on the list for an update.
Personally, I have now dumped my pet build and am running a modified flameslinger build atm, but I'd love to go back and try it again in the future.

thank you! thanks for the support! Let's hope this issued is adressed soon, since i'm not the only one having problems with my pet. XP i refuse to get rid of my pet so i'm basicly screwed ^^;
drowningfish999
I don't understand why they can't just make pets naturally infused. I mean all the henchmen in the Southern Shiverpeaks are infused, even before you can be. (I have tested this in the first mission where there are patrolling mursaat you usually have to dodge). If henchmen have natural infusion, why can't your pet?
UsagiNoSenshi
that's a very good question.
Wu Shao
That sucks man. I know that it may be a bit of a pain, and from an RP point and PvE point it may be pain, but you may want to consider changing out your skill points for those missions you want to complete, or wait til A-Net does something about it. A-Net makes it pretty easy to change out your build.
I do hope that pets will get infused so that you don't have to deal with it.
Edit in : you may want to try and drop a line to the devs about this. This is a game-breaker for people who specifically want to stay with Beast Master.

hmm... any one know the best way to contact the devs ^^; may be stupid question

i've contacted suport earlier so i'll let everyone know what they say

I would also request that certain ranger quests involving pets to be changed to that they doesn't require you to trade in pets you love. I had to do it to get hunter's shot loved my presearing Wolf!

ugh i got a reply from arena net. All they said is i should post my sugestion in the fan forums ::rolls eyes:: so basicly they don't really care.
Epinephrine
Umm, of course they send that. They get flooded with millions of inane suggestions constantly, so they direct them to forums. They do come to read the forums though; we know this as we see Gaile and Alex around regularly, and sometimes they implement things that seem like they are drawn straight out of the forums.
UsagiNoSenshi
yeah i get that,i'mjust bitter is all XP, so many people going 'omg make me uber' kinda things all over ^^; poor people that have to read all those letter. ::sigh:: just hope someone notices the poor pets. Starting to think i'm the only one that's gotten this far using a pet XP
ok let's keep the ideas coming! What else have people found a problem with with the pets?

hey all i prob wont post here at all after this cause i aint really into going to multiple forums(my email is [email protected]) if u got any questions on my build or anything.
but atm my ranger uses the beast mastery build. with all her skills dedicated to BM. her pet is able to take on 4 blessed griffons at once.( the war/monk birds that smite) the only hard part is somtimes getting agro off me but with max BM my heal with pet skills is enough to whipe all them out. also, this is going to be hard to say but ALL of the pets suck except for the elder black widow. i say that because ive used all of them and the black widow is just the best. id say next would be bear then warthog but thats just me.
my build uses no disruption just all dmg. im talking with support to get one of the skills working again cause it dosent. once it gets working i can see pets being great tanks.

I fail to see how hard it would be..
A piece of Armor like that of a Collar would be perfect.I Wouldnt even care if it wasn't even visible on my pet.

The Collar is a perfect ifea...
Unfortunatly, this reminds me of Final Fantasy XI Online. Those of you who've played it know what I'm talking about. There were 2 job classes, Summoner and Dragoon, that were by no means "gimp", but missing certain key things that other jobs had.
The devs were spammed with suggestions to improve the jobs for years, but alas, there still has been no major change to the job classes. Summoner only has one line of spells that are useful, and they don't get those spells till level 70 (lvl75 is the level cap).
I feel Beastmastery has so much petential, but has been largely neglected by the devs.

Feral Lunge i generally see the "bleeding" effect on my target. Being a Monk/Ranger i do not actually watch my pet as i'm (a) very far away (b) busy healing and watching red bars. So i dont really mind about "instant" effects, it's those enchantment ones. [I dont even think it shows a yellow arrow on the HP bar of my pet...so how do you actually know when it runs out??]
Skrilling
How hard would it really be to "storyline-ize" armor on pets? Honestly, not like it hasn't been done before. Look at actual history, there is armor made for everything: horses, elephants, bears, you name it its probably been there. Now actually scripting a piece of armor and making models and artwork that show when you put a new piece on your pet may be time consuming, but thats where the colar idea comes in. And your not alone, i've made it to the ring of fire with a pet too, however i can't rely on him anymore so i have to bring a few marksman skills to replace beastmaster, which leaves other skills cut short.
UsagiNoSenshi
THANK YOU ARENANET!!!!! I'm going to test out the new update later, make sure it isn't bugged or anything. Thanks for listening guys!
ill eat ur soul
wait, whats the new update?
