Guild Halls

Oops, can someone move this to the Q+A section please? Sorry my mistake.

I have looked around the web sites and searched the forums here, however information regarding the guild halls is either somewhere I have not found or simply scarce and unorganized. I have seen a few pictures of what I think are guild halls, I have seen some information about a signet and cost of a guild hall, and that's about it. If someone could just give me the rundown or point me to the right place I would be very gratefull.

Who can get a guild hall?
What does it mean when you get a guild hall?
Does PvP take place at guild halls?
Are there any other functions of guild halls other than to be cool to have?
What is the cost and method by which a guild can aquire a guild hall?
How many various types of guild halls are there?
Can you see the guild halls before you choose the one you want?
Can you choose the one you want?
So on and so forth...

So... anyone care to enlighten me?

Celestial Sigil to purchase a Guild Hall.

No there is no way to build your own city for others to interact in. However, every guild will have access to a guild hall. Guild versus guild battles essentially put you on a battlefield with the guild halls on either end. The goal is to invade into your opponents guild hall and kill their guild lord.

Look here for your answer.

Use the search at top of forum main page.

EDIT : in that thread I pointed you to...(this is still BETA period..any or all aspects could alter upon release)

100gold for guild name.. 1000gold for guild cape..you have now started a guild...

to get a hall......need to have a guild...then get a sigil (see below)

In Lion's Arch .... purchase a Celestial Sigil from sigil trader who is next to guild registrar...can be very expensive..and trader is out of stock sometimes

Other way to get sigil is to find the sailor (NPC) located in LIon's Arch as well and speak to him to sail to the Tomb of Primordial Kings questing area. There you will begin your mission journey to survive and win the Tombs missions and hold the Hall of Heroes (aka HoH)...will get you sigil for free that way....however..the sigil only drops for one random member of the winning team that way.

To survive and win Tomb missions..must make it to the last battle..(HoH)..2 sets of 2 teams face off..one set to either side of a 5th team in middle....first team to win their pairing gets to cross a newly opened bridge to the center to fight the Dais defending 5th team...the other pairing on opposite side also has a bridge form to get to center once a winner is declared there as well. The last team standing after those 3 face off is declared the winner overall.

all came from that thread.

not in that thread..... having a guild hall means you are part of the tournament ladder system now...PvP (Guild vs Guild style) matches take place there (attacking or defending).. there is also a separate general guild arena area....how many guild halls?(6..possibly a couple more at release..Spooky commented on that elsewhere).....can you see them before choosing? ( yes..again Spooky took care of that by providing some screenshots).......who do you give the sigil to to purchase your hall and do you get to choose which one you want ( the only things I don't have answer for ..but Spooky probably would know those if can answer them without violating the NDA he is bound by).

That help?

Yes, you can take a scenic tour of all the available guild halls by talking to the captain (forgot his name) on the Lion Arch, so you can actually run around on the guild hall map before deciding to settle in one of them.

To choose a hall, simply ask the guild leader to take the tour to the particular hall that your guild is interested in and talk to a NPC (not the captain but a different NPC - sorry I forgot his name too ) The NPC will tell you that he requires a celestial sigil and that once he receives the sigil from you your guild hall would be set to that map.

Also remember that after you hand the sigil to the NPC you need to ask all of your guild members to exit from the guild hall (just ask them to port to the nearest town or something). Basically you need to empty the guild hall before the game can actually change the hall into the new one.

It means that all members of your guild now have access to the guild hall area of the map - it's located on an island south of Lion's Arch. You can run around both the guild hall proper, and the surrounding island.

Yes - the guild hall itself is a staging area for guild vs. guild combat. You can form up teams, and either look for a suitible opponent, or challenge another guild.

The actual GvG matchup takes place at one of the guild halls - one of the teams is defending their hall, the other is the attacker, with their team spawning on a boat on the other team's island.

They're convenient meeting places for your guild, and are required for GvG play and moving up the ladder. There may be added functionality, such as guild storage, planned, but that has not been implemented as of the last BWE.

You buy a guild hall with a Celestial Sigil in Lion's Arch. Celestial Sigils are acquired by winning a round in the Hall of Heroes, the last map of the Tombs.

You can also buy a Celestial Sigil from other players, and there's a NPC that deals in them as well.

If you wish to change to a different guild hall, you can do so at any time by spending another Celestial Sigil. You can only have one one guild hall at a time, however.

As of this point in time there are six known guild halls - Warrior's Isle, Hunter's Isle, Wizard's Isle, Frozen Isle, Druid's Isle, and Isle of the Dead. The first three are virtually identical and play out the same way - they're probably due for some changes - while the last three have significantly different layouts, and thus tactical and strategic concerns.

Yes, there's a NPC at the docks in Lion's Arch that will take you on a tour of the various Guild Halls. You can visit any of them and run around them as much as you'd like. Note that this service is available regardless of your current guild status - you can tour the guild halls even if you aren't guilded, and you can look over the various halls even if your guild already has a hall. So you have all the time and information you need before deciding which guild hall you wish to purchase.
