Collector Armor

I'm currently in the desert with my new charactor and I decided to get the collector armor instead of buying it at Amnoon. I never sold any of the items I collected with my previous charactor so I'm 80% there for items and I have been using my first charactor (level 20 many times over) to farm for the remaining items.
I have a couple of questions about the desert armor, is it still hard to get runes out of them? I want to change again in Drokners but I do not want to buy new runes.
Is the collector armor customised for only your player like armor from the merchant?
Any reason why I should not get the desert armor?
BTW: the charactor the armor is for is a Mo/Me.

All armor is always customized for the player.

Runes can sometimes be salvaged off player armor with an Expert Salvage kit, but it's not guaranteed to succeed. It's unknown exactly how often it succeeds, but most people seem to say it works more than half the time (but not a lot more than that, so failing isn't so unlikely).

I added numbers to your questions so here we go:

1. There is a high chance that you will not be able to recover the runes on your own armor... since its not the same as the armor dropped by mobs. If you use runes on them, be prepared not to get them back.

2. Yes... armor crafted or given to you by a collector is customised for your use only.

3. No reason why you shouldn't. However once you reach Drokner's Forge and the Southern Shiverpeaks you have access to the highest level armor and 15K armor sets. But since collector armor is free, then there's nothing to worry about.

I have been pretty lucky salvaging runes from my armor so far I have not lost one but it was always bought from the armorers not collected from the collectors.

Keep your desert collector armor until you have enough to craft your 15k, if you are going to get the 15k. Why? Because that collector armor is also the highest armor level in the game, but it just doesn't have the "extras" you pay for when you get armor crafted.

Collector armor isn't different, in general, from armor bought from a crafter. I suspect runes come off at an equal rate, etc.
