A friend of mine formatted a second HD to play GW. He tried to install and everytime he does--he has tried a few times--the install freezes at exatcly 97%.

Any ideas or direct responses on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

DOes he have any firewall software installed on his PC. If so, tell him to add in the GW Firewall ports. It could be these that is stopping the install from progressing as the game does access the GW website for file updates.

If that doesn't work, get him to uninstall the Firewall and try the install again. If it works then, reinstall the firewall.

Hope this helps. If not, then please get your friend to post his specs for his machine here, and the Gaming Techies will try and help.

that sounds like good advice from Dirkiess... has he tried installing any other games on his machine? Do they work fine? Has he had crashing trouble anywhere else? Some questions to ponder .

He has not been on yet today for me to talk to him. On his behalf I just want to say I appreciate your help--whether it works or not--. He told me he formatted a second HD specifically to play GW. That is good advice and I will send him here whether it works or not. I thank you again.

He got it fixed! He said he was over clocking his video card so he went ahead and turned a few things down and presto! I did not just say presto....
Damn.

Well, again, thanks for your help guys. It was appreciated!
