Possible to change what the screenshots are saved as?
Deathlord
I was wondering if it was in any way possible to convert the format's from which the screenshots are saved as from .bmp to a more space-saving one such as jpeg. I love taking pictures ingame of thing's I see and abnormal events. Within a month I packed up about 2 GB in my screenshot folder and I had to end up deleting alot of stuff which I really wanted to keep. If it was able to convert mass scale pictures from 2.2 MB (Bmp) to 162 KB (Jpeg) then it would help me tremendously. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Other than opening them up in Paint or Photoshop, 1 by 1, and saving as jpg, I don't know.
Luggage
Acdsee
Nicro Mancer
Something like this: http://www.snapfiles.com/download/dlbimp.gif.html should do the trick, and yes - it would be great if ANet could put that option in an update sometimes, i would love to be able to save them as .png's instead of silly old bmp.

There are several freeware/shareware programs out there that can do batch conversions. If you do a Google search on "shareware graphics batch conversions applications" you will be pleasantly surprised.

Or turn them to jpg and delete the bmp right away?

Many thanks for all the help guys. I'll go try to find one now.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 worked fine for me, batch processing ftw.

IMO we shouldn't have to convert it though. It should be an option or just automatically be a .jpg
Saving a picture file as a .bmp is like saving a file to a 4 x 6 floppy. There's much better alternatives out there.

Well, I think they should give the option of:
BMP
high quality jpg
mid quality jpg
low quality jpg
I'd save as bmp for the quality, so i can then edit it how i like.
Also, say you're running min graphic settings, and you press Print Screen, at the moment, it'll make the game run max graphics settings for that split second, I'd also like it to have an option for double res for that split second. Even if it takes 5 seconds to take the screenshot. (as an option, that can be turned off!)

BMP makes sense if you want the details, JPGs often make the text hard to read.

I like irfanview too and prefer .png files, so I guess .bmp is not the worst compromise in the world... def prefer to be able to choose my own conversions.
