Chat Channel Misuse

Something has to be done about trade spammers on the chat channel!

A filter for WTB, WTS, WTT, buy, sell, trade, etc., needs to be implemented to prevent buying and selling in the chat channel...

Opinions?

Agree. I have at times used the chat channel to ad selling items, but realized what I did and then switched to the trade channel.

However, I do not beleive there is a easy fix for this.

Easy sollution for the spam in the all channel = Ban. permanent for repeat offenders. It's against the terms of agreement, and shouldnt be tollerated, but... with the sheer amount of people doing it, it's not a "single" person creating all the spam... rather it's a collective bunch of people, making it hard to just point a finger.

A filter wouldnt help anything tho, there's always different ways around filters.

What is your opinion on using chat to give items away - not sell or trade? Is it just as hard and fast a rule?

I hardly ever sell - and when I do it's on the trade channel - but I give lots of stuff away. I would like to use general chat to offer to the widest array of people, and to those who may need it the most.

I think it's the spamming that really gets everybody upset. If you put that your giving away an item, you only need to say it once. If nobody replies then nobody wants it. But then if everybody where to be doing it, it would be a problem, so most people say to keep it in the trade channel. Not to sound rude but, I'll never understand how a person can buy a game, go home, install it and start playing without ever reading the book for at least 5 minutes, they are just asking to be yelled at by somebody using the N00B term. I do it this way, If I'm looking to buy,sell or trade an item I turn all window's off except the trade window, then just sit and do the trading thing. If I'm not looking to buy anything then the trade window is off. I'm not sure why people even talk in the all window except if they have a question to ask everybody. I think you should use the whisper command, for general talking and trading. It seems the only thing that is being talked about in the all window is people bragging about this and that or trolling to pi-- people off, excluding the typical LFG. Which I think it may be nice if their was a seperate LFG channel Just an opinion

When will people ever learn of that nifty little feture called search. And that they should use this before posting.

I will spam the new thread to death Mheuhaha!!! Seriously if all these posts were kept on the same thread then we could have a better dicussion about it and less spam like this in the end.
