Collectors edition, is it really worth it?
Wittigo
Sure you get a head set, 3 months of free team speak and divine aura, but is it really worth an extra $30? I've read that there are some problems with team speak, and what does divine aura do?
Spooky
There's also the artbook.
Divine Aura is mostly just to look more important than everyone else that doesn't have one.
Anywho.. the CE is actually a pretty good deal, when you consider that the headset alone almost makes up the price difference between CE and standard edition. Having played without voice communication, and with, (though we use Ventrilo) I can say that it makes a world of difference in the experience and is worth having (or having the means to use.)

It is probably worth the money depending on the quality of the headset. Cheap ones cost about $20 which is almost the entire price of the collectors edition right there. You also get a really nice art book and a whole bunch of stuff. So if you are not strapped for cash, I would say it is a good purchase. And the divine aura surrounds you with light when retail comes out.

I myself, don't really want to use it, and i won't pay 30$ for an aura ^.^
The art book, i dunno... im gonna be playing the game often so, it's like it's own constant going movie... from the begining i could never believe the screenshots were true to what they speak.

One more thing, how much does teamspeak cost once the three months is over?

Paying is only for hosting a server. You can still use someone elses, and that is free. Or, you can switch to Ventrilo (such as we did when our host left us), as that doesn't cost anything either.

Although i pre-ordered the Deluxe/Collectors Edition before playing the March Beta Event (wich anyone wondering if this game is worth it, needs a check-up from the neck-up) I'm so looking forward to the Full-color Hardcover Artbook. This will definitely be the the centerpeice of my coffee table. Also allowing to strike a conversation and log into the game
The Logitech headset will replace my labtec (wich is fine but lost the sponge cover)and now match my logitech MX510 mouse. The 3 months Teamspeak Server Hosting i'll hold onto incase i decide to start my own guild. Server hosting isnt free, but the client side is. If you have used teamspeak before dont forget www.teamspeakoverlay.com So you can see whos talking right on your HUD.
As for the Guild Wars soundtrack, i have a place in my bedroom CD alarmclock for that, what better way to start the day, than wake up to pleasnt melodies.
The Divine Aura Hopefully will be an item worth keeping throughout the game, although this game is so focused on ballance. I hope it has some special atribute enhancement but will settle for the glowing aura created, hopefull it will help out in dark places.
Only an elite few gain the attention and favor of the gods, but those who do receive a celestial gift—a Divine Aura, a glowing visible token of their god’s blessing. When players purchase the Collector’s Edition of Guild Wars, each of their characters will receive this unique in-game item. Characters who equip the item are surrounded by a unique aura determined by the god who has bestowed it, and the item itself has a shape and color distinctive to that specific god. Once blessed by the gods, Divine Aura stays with a character; it cannot be traded or given to others.

Hey Wittigo!
Good to see you here. I went with the normal edition of the game, simply to save a couple bucks but also because I will be using ventrillo and already have a mic set up. The choice between CE and normal is always a hard one for me and since to choice is so situational it really depends on what you want.

Do you guys know what mic will be coming with the game? Logitech has several mics and I'm just wondering which one I'll be getting.

If you're from WoW that is. :-P
I'm going to get a mic and join Doc on Ventrillo.
I bought the WoW CE and it wasn't worth it. The book is pretty, but when you think about it it's simply not worth it. You look at it a few times, say, "oooh, pretty" and then move on. You can do the same thing at gallerys on the intarweb.
EDIT: Typos can shove it.

Well Gailes description of the artbook in the riverside inn board (such a tease) solidified my decision to by the CE. I already have 2 CE's in queue, one for my wife, and one for my sis. So now Ill be buying 3! Id say its worth it for sure. AURAS ROCK! I loved having one in CoH, it was really cool.

I was under the impression you had to equip the Divine Aura item in order for it to be on... So unless you choose to equip it, you would look just like a normal player would you not? Therefore having an aura to equip at will seems like a pretty cool idea to me.
The headset that comes with it is supposed to be the "Internet Chat" headset from Logitech. For us Canadians, that means the headset makes up for the difference and gives us a little extra too. Of course if you already have a headset than that takes away a lot of the "need" for the CE. But there's still the OST, art book, 3 months free TS hosting and the Divine Aura. Nevertheless, it's a good deal for what you get out of that extra $30, unless you don't need or want the stuff obviously.

Does the head set only put out voice? For example, if I'm wearing the headset do I have to have my speakers on to hear the music? I normally use headphones for gaming and I don't think a subwoofer would mix well with sleeping people at two in the morning.
Roken
I went to GameStop, and the cashier asked if I wanted the CE or Reg, and I asked him what the diffrence in price would be... He said "Oh, probably 5, 10 bucks". "Sure, why not?", I told him...
"That will be 83.06"
"WTF? Um, Ill take the regular edition, thanks."
I didnt know a headset came with it, though! I might have to change my order.

You can host your own teamspeak server on your own computer for free. Although it will be using bandwidth which is why some people prefer to use someone elses server. This is easily done simply by agreeing with your friends which public server you are planning on using.
With Ventrilo there is no list of public servers. So, unless you or your buddies are going to host the ventrilo server thus using bandwidth, finding a free ventrilo server to use is could pose to be difficult.
Spooky
Anything we do that requires voice communication (Tombs, GvG) is only done within the Guild, so public servers don't really mean anything to us. That's probably not going to be the case for everyone, but for people that just want to use it for guild matters shouldn't sweat it, methinks.

I ordered it because, my curretn headset it buggered, the book sounds awesome, three months of TS is good, and Divine Aura!!!
