E/R question

A E/R class is something I haven't really seen much of. I was wondering if it would work to only put points in the elementalists energy storage and then the rest in ranger spells. I was trying to find some way so that my ranger could have more energy so he could use more power attacks like dualshot, pointblank shot, and power shot more often. Is this a valid idea or will my ranger be to gimped from not being able to use the ranger armor and runes?

Well thinking about it being able to use Energy Storage would be a massive advantage.

However has pointed out your be limited in other ways by your lack of armor and the fact you won't be able to boast your ranger skills with runes.

Well, it would work, but why? The ranger already gets a skill that reduces the amount of energy he needs, about 60% at lvl 12, effectively increasing your mana pool. You would also lose out on using ranger runes to help your marksmenship, which you are going to want very high.

Generally you may want to be a E/R to make use of skills like Earth or Water magic to protection yourself and allies from harm during battle. Like using Ward Against Melee to sheild yourself and other long range casters and rangers from annoying b-line warriors.

I'm an E/R.
I played essentially pure E but with a pet for most of the time, but now, halfway through Ascention I've decided to ditch the pet, now I use Winter and Troll Unguent.
Winter is really useful against the things in the desert that are resistant to fire.

are you talking about expertise?

if so i did not realize it had such a big effect. The one guide I had read claimed that it didn't have that great of an effect and wasn't worth a lot. I will have to try putting some more points in expertise.

At level 14 expertise, all your five mana ranger attacks, stances, rituals, traps, preparations, etc will cost 2 mana, and all your 10 mana ones 4.

Not to mention, there are some pretty decent expertise line spells that you'll miss out on because you can't put points into expertise.

If you want to shoot arrows, go with a ranger main and elementalist secondary.

Yep. Yep. (double yep, cause one yep was 'too short of a post.')

Ye olde England.

I play as a R/E and iv got expertise about 11, im NEVER EVER low on energy, and i dont even have druids armor, although i also have a E/R, if u play on of them u just need to change the skill focus a little, instead of using lots of high power and high energy marksman skills, use ones that work well to add affects to enemies, like Hunters Shot and Poison Arrow, (not apply poison). Then for the main attack use powerfull ele spell, i think air is a good support.
What i do is take a bow with a shocking string, then bring conjure lightning, air atumement, Hunters Shot and Pin Down, then the rest of my skills are just high powered air skills. I find this build great for taking on warriors that like to run straight at me.
