Stupid Guilds
FireStorm
Ive been in 2 two guilds so far.. Both i got KICKED , but i dont see what i did wrong. 1st, I was on my other file in pre searing and they asked to come to guild hall with my ele , i said no, they asked again and again , finally said 'Who wants Napalm Out? VOTE NOW !!!1one!1' All voted me out , for not showing up on a gvg , and i cant remember if i even missed 1 before that.
2nd, i was finally asked questions about gvg by new guild 'we need air ele's for gvg, are you an air?' i said no. He responded 'Im going to have to ask you to change to air for gvg now' i didnt even have half the air skills anyway, so i said no. With his last response he said 'Omg for you n00b, sorry you are no use to this guild, good bye' i felt so pissed.. useless??? just cause i didnt change from fire to air? wtf?
All in All , is there any non asshole guild out there who wont kick me for something that 'revolves' around my ele

Well that does sound pretty harsh, but think that being in a guild is not just wearing a funny cape - it's all about helping the guild when it needs you. Of course, it should help you when you need it, too...
As usual, there are 2 questions to ask: a) what am I doing for the guild? and b) what is the guild doing for me?
If the two answer do not satisfy you, it's either not your guild or you should go alone. In GW, there's not much difference - you don't NEED a guild unless you're trying to be heavily competitive - and in that case, you need to abide by the rules of competition: characters are needed and when they are, you run.
My opinion.

The other day me and my guild had a guild battle, the first one we killed the other team, then the next one, we got totally DECIMATED! Then when I was PvEing with one of my friends in my guild she goes "OMFG you idiot why did you do taht I told you to rez the healer!!" so I say "I can rez multiple times I have rebirth" so she totally ignores me and calles me an idiot again. I just get "disconected" (we were in N shiverpeaks and she was lvl 17) so she can take some time to just cool down. I was angry at our loss also, but I didnt boot anyone over it, also I try to be nice, and kind to my guild mates. I always ask if they need help as soon as I go on, usually nobody says yes so I chat, or go to LA in teh weirdo district (dist. 13 for me) and sit there, then when nobody gets on for a while I play with my pre-searing character and I get bored and get off, then I help out people in post-searing ascalon-with my lvl 20 R/Mo-play a few missions and stuff with 'em then ask them to join my guild & if they say no I still help 'em out. We all know what it feels like to be bored outta your mind before you hit N shiverpeaks, it's just wayyyyyy to easy

Yea easy till the stone summit pwned my *** all over the place. I remember a Beta i was in, i was only in 1. I started exploring untilli nearly reached ice place on map , i was so happy. Then a Hydra came out and owned me in 10 sec. After that i made it my DUTY to reach yaks bend. I finally reached it 1 hour till the beta ended, kinda got pissed lol. So yea Any1 want a NICE!!! person in their guild? (means me lol)

I really suggest that people shop around for a guild. I mean people joinging guilds because of the cape they have is the funniest stuff I have every seen. I agree comepletely with Calimar when there is really two important questions that needs to be asked (1) What am I doing for the guild? and (2) What is the guild doing for me? There is a give and take with being a part of a guild.
I also like the players who want to join and "elite" PvP guild. I believe a player needs to earn that priviledge to a certain extent. I have always been a HUGE supporter for teaching players to PvP in any game I have been in, but I find the player who is not willing to listen and learn who is the first person trash talking when the group wins.
Luckily there is enough people out there playing this game that a guild can find like minded people. I know my guildmates are always looking for people who want to have fun, help each other our, and develop good PvP and GvG teams. I like our guilds balance of having fun in PvE and being serious about PvP-GvG. We are working as a team to win a sigil without having to pay for it currently. That's what is but fun and frustrating.

Yeah read the fine print before joining a guild. In this case, the fine print is how the other guild members act. If it seems that they're really hardcore about their GvG and very unforgiving when it comes to attendance, then stay clear (since that's obviously not your cup of tea, neither mine for that matter). Looks like you should aim for a casual GvG guild.

and GvG is especially important because it effects your guilds standing, and since presumably "you like your guild, that why you joined" you want your guild to do well in the standings, so IMHO even if they were being silly prepubescent kids about kicking you, there is a semi-valid reason they did it.
Lysstastic
I don't think him not wanting to join PvP events for one time should mean he should get kicked out.. there's no semi-valid reason for being that childish or nasty IMO. As a guild leader I would never kick someone out just because they didn't want to participate in PvP for that one time only. If I was a strictly PvP guild, even if they didn;t want to join in more than once, I still wouldn;t kick them out, maybe if they never wanted to participate, i'd suggest that another guild might be suitable, but, guild members are supposed to be your friends. The reason guilds are good, i find, is cos you can do things like HoH, or team arena, or underworld runs without having to take morons into your team - they should be people you respect and trust, and you certainly wouldn't vote them outta the guild because they were too busy to attend a PvP event.. that's just insanity.

This game is so past paced in PvP... rhetorically, you wont get an answer to this. Keep looking. Their are so many ppl playing this game, it won't take long.
Answers come in weird ways dude. Lets put it this way...did you really want to stick around in a guild like that?
Maybe in the future you'll be looking for a straight pvp guild...in the mean time, find some n00bs and make a slow paced guild until you're ready for a fast paced guild. This game will be around for a long time. A good group of 20 n00bs can turn into a tight group of 8 fast.
Don't try to win all today.

Some guilds are lead by idiots, just remember that. Find one that wont kick you around.

Maybe this is irrellevant now but, just in case your still having guild problems,
Just to clear up my understanding, did you explain to them your reasons for not switching to air ele? or for first guild, about how you cannot access GH while in pre searing, if you did then yes, they treated you unfairly, and you should of just quit rather than taking that.
If by chance you are still having difficulty finding a good guild, I'm always looking for new blood , no requirements. Just have fun, and get along with other guildies, there are only 5 of us currently, but now that their starting to near the lvl 20 mark, and getting outfitted, it would be great to find some more people to do pvp or gvg with once in a while. And as for builds and stuff, I would actually prefer not having you make a pvp char on the spot, even if you have been playing a long time and have all the skills, and know a build is good, that doesn't mean you know how to play it, unless you make a pvp char and actually play it alot, and get to know what works, but I would never ask my friends to switch it up so fit the assumed build. They'll play better with what they know, if you suggest they spend some time learning multiple ways to play their char, then when you get into gvg, and say "were using this build, they'll know what will work best, and they'll know how to play their part, maybe i'm just ranting now, anyway, if you want send me a pm, and we can go on some hunts or go exploring some

Being in a guild should be about playing with people who are your friends and are fun to be with, this is the most important criterion. If you are playing serious pvp with a bunch of asshats, you might win a lot, but i know that your enjoyment won't be what it would be playing with a group of cool people.
It also sounds like you had some communication difficulties with these guilds- I would suggest trying to find a guild that has a ventrilo or teamspeak server, or popping for one yourself if you have about 15 dollars a month to spare. Being able to speak to your guildmates is invaluable. And it makes everything more fun.

Thats sad that they kicked you out just cause of that. They shouldn't have gotten so mad at you just for that... its a game after all... were supposed to have fun. Which is exactly what the guild I'm in does. We don't get mad if you dont want to change your skills. Play with what you're good at. We're a pretty new guild so we don't have alot of people in it yet, nor do we have a guild hall, but were working on that. We havn't done any GvG's yet either since were such a new guild. But if you're still looking for a guild, then you can whisper me

I am truely sorry to hear that the guilds out their are more worried about their GVG status than the ind that play the game. I try to keep this policy in my Guild. PVP or GVG is an option given by the game and we as a guild have no right to take it away from the ind playing the game. I have two members in my guild that have stated point blank that they dont play this game to pvp and I am fine with that. They dont go to HoH or any other PVP area. They support the guild members who are stuck on quest and they have become vauled members of [ACE]. I hope you find a guild that will support you as an ind not as a chr on the screen.

Hmm. Well, one of my close friends is in my guild (Im leader). Too bad last time I did HoH with him, he was an absolute jerk to me. Guess who's not going to be an officer...
IDK, personally, I don't want my guild rating to plummet, and wouldn't be happy to lose in PvP, but I wouldn't hold it against my guild members. IDK, if they kicked you, they were a junk guild anyway.

Well, Hint is, join a freindly guild, you need to imvestigate, and be investigated before you join one. Otherwise, its just a permanant pick-up-group. You guild should have good rules, and the members shouldnt over use immature words as ****Tard or n00b all the time.

listen private message me if you are still looking for a guild we are always open to new members and understand that you don't always have thre time for gvg. We do ask however that you try and meet the guild's needs as well whenever possible. I also consider myself to be a nice guy and would be willing to let you join All we are looking for is active players with the desire to learn and willingness to follow the orders of those who design the builds for GvG and PvP. We are always open to suggestions and have patience when it comes to making a decision regarding whether or not to boot a member.

Most Guilds are just led by idiots, who don't give anything about members of the Guild, but just about the winning and losing, my advice: Start your own Guild, with your friends. You wont have that problem anymore, you can buy the Guild Hall together and you can just play for fun, not to win.
Neonin
My suggestions would be to look for people advertising guilds with the following criteria:
Good use of english - If you see someone advertising for a guild with the likes of "U want 2 join da best guild in da gamez?!!!11" steer clear.
Funny/professional advert - Guilds that have joke advertisements ("Join Us today and receive a free carebear! Over 2 happy customers so far!") are likely to be less serious and more interested in having fun together, or professional looking ones ("Join US today. We offer cape/guildhall/website/teamspeak if required. Whisper for more details!") should be willing to answer questions about their guild so you can get some sense of what you're getting into before joining.
Things you're looking for in a guild (PvP/PvE/teamspeak server/website/forums/etc).
I always find following these little steps helps a lot in picking out a guild.

Well, you should not have ANY trouble finding another guildsince guilds recruting in Ascalon or Lions Arch are as common as seeing Coke in a Supermarket. I still say that ppl should not be able to form guilds so easy, I think you should have at LEAST ascended first. Everyone wanst to be the guild leader so they make their own and have like 2 members.
I try to recruit and its slow going, I am an officer and I usually get this...
"I'll join only if I am an officer." Well I am not the leader who should make that decision sooooo..... Officers should have experience with the guild and shown they know the game and is helpful. We have one guy I want to see made an officer SO bad.
Another problem is this that my guild has.
We have all now gotten to the post ascended and or completed the game, now we wana focus on GvG but still play PvE. My guild rank is LOW like below 3,500 and ppl ask what the rank is when i tell them they are like no thanks. They want top 10 like NOW!
It is a low rank but b4 I can tell them that literally 1 or 2 wins will make us like top 1000 and then 4 wins top 500 probably they have their mind set. We played 3 matches, first one was just 2 members playing to experiment and see what it was like, it was versus a noob guild of lvl 8 players, second they tried again using henchies against lvl 20's guess the outcome LOL. third we had 4 members and 4 henchies against 6 members and 2 henchies and we lost....barely.
My guild has everything a player could ask for, yet hard to get friendly ppl who play and want to win, yet fun should exceed all. We GIVE items we find to members of that profession, I personally have given away 40K in all to members to help them aquire new armors, we assist each other in PvE like nobodys buisness and nobody bitches!!!!! Oh well their loss.

Same thing, guild rank is falling for us, was like 600 now its 2,500. But thats because we are not going to touch GvG anymore till we get new members.
We dont adverstise either, if someone is gatting in, they are getting in by invite.
I'd suggest you go to one of your ingame freinds and start asking him about his guild, and see if you can apply to be in it.

I have to agree with a lot of the others who posted. Being kicked for missing 1 PvP match is a little lame and childish.
If your atill looking for a guild you can check NEWB out. We're a bunch of friends from many other games and found our way to GW now. We do Pvp, PvE and just screw around. We're here to have fun with the game. if it isnt fun, there isnt a point.
Good luck on finding a guild to suit your needs.
Edit: Sorry Scaphism, didnt know that was a rule.

Well, don't know if I can say this. But I am the one who invited you to the second guild. I thought you were nice and all but it turned out you were a complete jerk to everyone. While we were pvping together, you were a sore loser and a even worse winner. Every win we had you had a comment "Suck my b*lls" or something to the losing team.
Then when we were planing a gvg you said you wanted to come, we told you we don't want a fire elementalist in our build and if you wanted to gvg with us, you had to go change your build to a air ele or something we could use. We never forced you to or anything. When we aksed you to do that, you just imideatly started saying "fire pwns air" and related stuff. Eventualy you pissed another officer off enough that he booted you.

There's always 2 sides to every story.

True that is sad to hear that poeple cant just play the game. We had a guild member that did not fit my guild build. Not to say he was a bad person just didnt fit the type of player we were looking for. A guild and it members are a joint relationship that requires a semi-understanding between players. ie I as a Warrior am a geat meat shield for PVE but for PVP I built Elementlist to help the guild out. We dont all ways use the same players in our GVG team and we try to show respect to all teams we play in GVG. Remenber that there is a human being behind the keyboard playing the game and what you do on the screen reflects the type of person you are.
Schorny
The best way to get into a good guild is by playing with them. Every now and then in Tombs, Arena or even PvE an all (or nearly all) guild-team is looking for another guy to join them.
So you can see if you get along with them, it helps to be on TS with them...
I'd never join a guild just because they advertise themselves...

The best way about finding a guild is befriending some people, and joining into a guild together with them. UNLESS you want a drop dead serious pvp guild going for top 10 and not caring about anything else .... for me, guild is meant to be fun, and to get fun company to play the game with.
I'm in a guild with a bunch of friends that moved to GW from another game so I don't even understand many problems discussed here, I've never had them ... we always help each other out, share items we don't need, and just talk about silly things in the guild chat. Enlarging such guilds is a tricky business though - one different person can change the whole atmosphere. Like Sir Hawke said: "A guild and it members are a joint relationship that requires a semi-understanding between players."
When a player is ruining your guild's atmosphere, it's better to boot them out to preserve the fun for all the other guildies.

Booting out is the guild's privilege - the only thing I would reccomend is explaining reason to people you're booting. If they listen, in the end you'll break up on good terms. If they don't, well at least you tried.
Actually, when someone gets booted repeatedly I usually think it can't be only the guild's problem. Also, a thread named "stupid guilds" is not an index of a level mind on the subject - that is why I'm pretty confident that Eskimo's comment is not far from truth, also his level mindedness convinces me more. And that is precisely why I answered as I did the first time.
Good Manners are paramount importance when it is only through those that people can know you. I wish more people realized that.
Just my .02!

Judging from Eskimo Bob's superior control of the English language, I'll have to side wirh him. You were obviously, are you are now, speaking in an immature manner. I see no evidence why the Officer should not of booted you.
