What is hte best graphics card that costs under one hundred dollars that I can use to play guild wars and battlefield 2? If you don't know much about Battlefield 2, then just hte best one for under 100 that will make GW look amazing. I ask because I have a lame graphics card right now, and whenever I play GW it laggs up and stuff.

thanks in advance

For under $100? That's a tough one. You will need at least an FX5700/Radeon 8500 or higher to run BF2, since it requires Pixel Shader 2.0 support. You might look at one of these:

Radeon 9600XT

Geforce FX5700

For under $100, either of these should give you decent performance in both games as long as you're not looking to max out everything at 1280x1024. Look for good performance at 1024x768 with most details turned up to max, but you'll have to sacrifice for either.

I gave an example from both Nvidia and ATI because I know there are fans of both, and both offer good middle-of-the-road card in the sub-$100 range.

I'd personally give that 9600XT the thumbs up all the way. Definitely worth the money, and I'm an Nvidia fan.

Nvidia 6600 (search Newegg) is only a little over $100 (yes I know, sub $100 request) but the 6600 comes in PCI-Ex, AGP, with 128MB and 256MB combos. Also, it supports Pixel Shader 3.0.

I have an Nvidia 6600 256MB PCI-Ex, and it runs anything, Doom 3, Tribes Vengeance, Guild Wars, Unreal Tournament 2k4, BF2, etc... all the graphic intensive games. And it's non-GT.

I agree, I think I'd go with the 9600XT first as well, but both are good low-to-mid-range performers and should do what he needs.

Yeah, but he also wants to run Battlefield 2, which you can't on a GF4 Ti based card since they don't support Pixel Shader 2.0.

Great card, but not for both games he wants to run.

The 9600 series are solid cards. I have a 9600 PRO, and aside from some of the crashing problems detailed here on the forums, the card performs very well at both GW and BF2 provided you aren't looking for ultra resolutions with ultra details.
