I thought I would post this because I have a somewhat unique Healer build, that is extremely effective when my teammates know how to use me, but almost useless when they dont.
Im a Necromancer/Monk with attributes in Blood Magic, Soul Reaping, and Healing Prayers. There are 2 key things that most groups dont do effectively and blame usually falls on me.
1. Focused Fire, calling targets. As a necromancer primary, I have access to far more Energy than a Monk thanks to Soul Reaping. I gain energy to heal your ass every time a target goes down. Calling targets and taking them down one at a time will keep me with plenty of energy to heal everyone. Im continually amazed at how many (ascended) groups still prefer to pick a target and attack it regardless of what their team is doing. This hurts the group more than many of you know.
2. Pull targets to Well of Blood. I find myself often vigorously healing teammates when there is a +5 health regeneration Well 10 feet away from where our melee is fighting 6 mobs. PULL THEM TO THE WELL. It will make you extremely hard to kill, and when the Well expires there will likely be a new corpse at your feet for me to expoit into another Well. That big flashing circle is pretty hard to miss.
With groups that understand and implement this I do excellent as a Primary healer. While somewhat unorthodox I will typically start battles by Life Siphoning 3 or so mobs to get my health regen disgustingly high, then go nuts with Infuse Health. This works even better when im standing in a Well of Blood as I can Infuse people at will without worrying about my own health. Infusing tanks for 118% of my health is huge.
Im sure there are similarly unique healers such as Me/Mo etc. that require different strategies to work with than your typical Healing/Protection monk. If your healing build requires your team to work a little differently please tell us about it.
Working with different types of healers

Sadly evetrything that starts with Necromancer can be calles a unique buidld
ever tried a mesmer monk?
No need to wait for death to gain energy AND you can cast healing/res faster.
Or an ele monk?
"Energy? ah just give me a short break sometimes and i have more than you will ever need".
or a Ranger monk?
"hey look, my spells cost only half as much"
or a warrior Monk?
Hey my energy regen is 2, so i cant heal much at all, but who cares, most of me are stupid anyways!
or JUST NO MONK AT ALL?
Monks are overrated, basta!

Does your team need to behave at all differently Ollj? If so explain. That was the point of this thread.

People just need to be more knowledgable of the skills other professions have. I went into FoW as the only Monk, and we did just fine (completed 25k worth of quests, and only died because 3 people bailed due to time) once people figured out how to use the Necromancer's wells. We had several deaths before that time, however.

!
But my question is do you suggest these things up front, in town, before the mssion/quest begins? And they still don't listen?
Trying to draw back to the Well is a tough thing to do psychologically, I think. Because warriors are conditioned to meet the enemy quickly and in front to prevent them from going unimpeded to the secondary rank of Mes, Elem, Mo, Necro, Ra and whacking on the less armored folk.
I have the same problem with Heal area, trying to get Elem and Mes to stay close to me so I can cheaply heal and for a lot of points and fast!
But as other characters, I would have a tough time readjusting my tactics... although I would do it after awhile.
Focus fire is just one of those things that help everyone make good decisions.

couple of things. wells work ok for PvE hoever in tombs they are almost useless and the areas are way too big and you run around too much.
my first and main character is a N/Mo and together they make a powerful healing machine, however in tombs it is not worth the slots it takes.

Winds of Blood
In my opinion nothing works instead of a monk. An ele with monk abilites sounds good, but the divine favor loss kills it

My In-Game name is Northern Lites, I would be happy to play with you as well.
When Im primary healer I make my team aware of those 2 points. The problems occur when casters start taking damage. In most situations if your taking heavy aggro as a caster, run. You should only need to retreat for a few seconds to lose your aggro.
What often happens is the casters stand there taking damage and melee has to leave their targets to assist. IMO melee should stay on their target while the caster runs and loses the mobs attention.

I was in a random arena fight as an elementalist, and in one group, not one of the 3 other people I was grouped with knew how or what Wards were
