So can anyone tell me the point of the monster "Thophies" apart from filling your inventory?
They can't be Salvaged ... they can be sold for a massive 1g
eg.
Bloated Hump
Unnatural Seeds
Troll Husks
Smoldering Hearts
Skeletal Limbs
Monster "Trophies"
Keramon
Deadroot
I believe the Unnatural Seeds are items you can turn in for gold to a special NPC in the main town in the tutorial. Think you need 10 or something in order for him to accept it. They've stuff like that with Lodestones, so some (or all) of the other items like that may be the same thing...or at least something similar.

However I noticed collectors scattered all over the tutorial levels who collect items like Graw Necklace et cetera.

As far as I can tell they're incomplete salvage items - monsters don't drop raw materials anymore, but they drop these trophies instead. It's pretty obvious what some of them are supposed to salvage into, but for now there are some items that are just plain unavailable because of this change - shells being the most obvious, but pelts don't drop anymore and feathers are a real pain now that tengu all drop 'feathered headdresses'.
For now, you just dump 'em all for 1 gold.

Fort Ranik has a collector inside (and there is one outside in the wilderness) who takes 5 trophies in exchange for 10g, a Jeweled Chalice, or 2 Hides (take them to craft armor post-Searing).
Since Ranik is naturally the last place I was led to via Quests (final quest worth 750 xp), I had already sold all my trophies by this point and was ready to destroy Ascalon... just poor design imho.
