Look at number 4. We really need new voice actors out there, I don't like buying a new game to find the same old people doing new people. This guy already has plenty of money, go pay for some new and more fresh talent.

Well, honestly I never really liked him. But I can honestly say I had more respect for him before that.

Voice acting in games in general is piss poor and embarrassing. This should come as no surprise. For every game with as great voice work as a game like System Shock 2 there are 1000 abominations out there.

I cant believe that you are suggesting that you cant respect a man the has the guts to wear a blouse with that kind of neckline. Now I am going to have to visualise that every time I see his undead butt. Thanks a lot.

Holy crap, badass but hyper-aggressive Prince Rurik was that psychic froof Byron from B5? Now THAT'S comedy.

And of course it's always the same old people in video games (Downes, Steve Blum a.k.a Hablion, all male player characters, and everybody else under the goddamn sun in GW, Cam Clarke who played everyone and their dog in Jade Empire and KotOR).

Do you have any idea how expensive most celebrities are? Besides, for all the money you pay to have them in your game, it's a rare breed who can actually VOICE-act worth a crap .

Actually, I thought Byron, err, I mean Rurik was one of the better voice acting jobs in the game.

The worst? Evenia (or however it's spelled).

I... I don't get it. I look at the IMDB link and I see a fairly seasoned voice actor. And he did the best voice acting in Guild Wars, hands down. Que?

Agreed on Evennia being the worst, though. To the. End. Of us. Awwwwwrl. I blame the shoddy voice directing.

I for one love the Deep Throat guy in one of the Ascension missions.

Boy, that guy must really have a soar throat by now with all those quests he has had to Speak about so far.

If you don't like Rurik, just replay the last mission, with you as the party leader, over and over and over and over and over. Seriously, that was the only moment in PvE that I truley enjoyed.

I thought the voice actor for Rurik was awesome. He has a very powerful an influential voice. Very much suited to a headstrong prince which Rurik is.

I usually play without sound, so that I didn't hear the voice of evania until one of the later missions by accident and I was shocked, because the voice -actually more that forced dialect- didn't fit at all.
Needless to say that I turned off the sound right away again, but that voice still haunts me

Holy smokes! I remember that guy from Buffy!

I was all ready to take him seriously when I saw he did the Prince from Prince of Persia, I'm thinking "it can't be the same guy, the Prince was awesome". Then I notice it's Warrior Within.... Oh.

Damn, that's a close one, especially when you're trying to compare a human to a non-human voice -- but I'll have to concur. I was wrong, Evennia is second worst, The Seer takes the cake for worst voice in the game...

I still say Rurik is damn good, almost perfect for Rurik. Especially when he starts out that "Ah, my excellent friends..." It's like, yes, Rurik, you're a great prince and a noble guy, but you're still and upper-class twit.

He did voice acting for the VtM series, that alone makes him godly.

i'm guessing it's the directing that's bad.

good actors can easily have really bad performances when you have a bad director.
as an example, look at the quality actors in the new star wars series, and their really bad performances.

Hardly. While I agree that the voice acting in Bloodlines largely represented the apex of the craft, like all things it had a few exceptions. Look at the characters he voiced: Boris? Brother Kanker? Please. All Kanker did was slurp his mucous and gibber at you in the most unimaginative cheap horror flick ways.

I'm gonna have to agree with goldfinger on that one my team and I also sat in town for a good 5 minutes after the mission laughing at how horribly out of place his voice was.

Rurik is definitely the best voiced character in Guild Wars, which comes as no surprise since Robin Atkins Dowes is fairly talented.

Heck, he even did a good job as the Prince in Warrior Within. ...Except the problem was that they totally murdered the Prince's character and made him flat and angsty (not to mention made the game bleh). But Dowes sure did do the whole "I smolder with Generic Rage" thing well. Yuri Lowenthal was the Prince in the first game, and I believe is reprising his role in the third installment.

Is Cam Clarke in Guild Wars? I don't remember my Cam Clarke detection sense going off, but Cam Clarke is involved in every video game voice acting project known to man, so...

Hablion was good in Gates of Kryta, but that's no surprise coming from Blum.

I agree that Evennia is grating and Dagnar is hysterical. Honestly, I love the decision to make the Dwarves of Guild Wars have Russian accents than the annoyingly cliched Scottish accent everyone seems to think Dwarves need to posses, but Dagnar's voice is thin and reedy and it makes sound a bit silly. I think he should have an intimidating, earth shaking Russian bass voice. But then again, he's like, four and a half feet tall. Intimidation is pretty much beyond his reach.

Did he not lend his hand to one of the greatest gaming franchise of all time? Yes, he did. That was my entire point, and it still stands proudly.

I honestly don't care if it's the same voice actors in several games. I only care if they're good and convincing. As it's apparently quite hard to make voice acting in a game sound convincing, I don't know how good it would be for us or the industry to start hiring newbies with no experience.
