I have read of a lot of PvP R/Me, but are they fun to play the Story Mode with? Could someone post a decent R/Me PvE build?

People keep telling me they have awesome R/Me full interrupters that are so much more efficient than <whatever build I'm using at the time>, so a search on this forum would probably help you.

Iteruptors aren't that great for pvp. They're certainly useful, but you're probably better off specing just ranger skills for pve to maximize dmg, and mixing up ranger and mesmer for pvp.

You could also use inspiration to support marksmanship and expertise or something energy-wise, rangers tend to have energy problems even with expertise.

Ranger can play interrupter fine without mesmer secondary. r/me is really only good in pvp but generally for energy denial.

Ranger in pve...meh, you won't be having much fun till you ascend and complete the 2 attribute quests and get tigers fury+some elites. It's a ton of fun then but a bit late too.

playing interrupter against a healer is hardly feasible unless you have arcane conundrum or migraine on them, heals are just too fast. Ranger is definitely not a good interrupter by itself.

From my experience,
Early game, before you can do anything with expertise, and you really can't use your ranger skills, I used a lot of empathy and backfire because the monsters are too stupid to adjust to them.
Once you can get your expertise to 13/14, I tended to spec out completely ranger skills for pve.
At this point, you're usually fighting too many enemies for the hexes to be viable. And you don't generally need energy tapping skills when all you're doing is igniting arrows and tiger's / dual shotting, or going the barrage route. I rarely run out of energy in the brief engagements in pve before you can sit and rest again.
Distracting is a usually a good enough interrupt for when you're facing bosses or hydra or something else that comes in smaller groups with big dmg skills/spells.
So, no, once you ascend with the two +15 quests, you probably won't use any mesmer skills. You really need to be a dmg dealer in pve, much more so than in pvp, and there aren't really any dmg enhancing mesmer skills a ranger can use.
I'm glad I have them unlocked though
Cheers.

Ether Lord + Serpents Quickness + lots of firepower.

Should suit all your PvE needs.

(Unless you're farming, then use traps).

Ether Lord? I lost you.
Explain how you're using that and where you're sacrificing the points from to pump up your inspiration.
You're running:
expertise, marksman, inspiration, and wilderness?
and if you aren't bringing tiger's fury in pve you're missing something imho, so that adds a small component of beast mastery.

All you really need to know for R/Me is Echo + Dibilitating Shot, but he makes an excellent trapper as well.

It's difficult but doable. The main thing is to be familliar with teh casting time so you know what to hit and what to let go.

Interrupting healers as a ranger is very zen, you have to hit the skill before you see the heal. You have to put yourself in the monk's shoes. It helps to be experienced at playing as a monk, and fortunately the DW healer template isn't completely awful like some of the others, so you can do it pretty easily.

Otherwise, if you're launching an interrupt every 2 seconds, you're bound to hit something.

okay ... this is funny thread already ... pvp R/Me and pve are totally opposite. My best practices in pve, which is what your looking for as stated above, is a DOT dealer. enemies drop like flies and it makes the game so much easier. Hunters shot + Apply poison + conjure. Thats all you need to have ... equip a troll and res and your set for the whole game. swap out apply poison for kindle arrows fire damage vs undead. good luck! Im not even going to comment on pvp because this combo is versatile for the groups needs.
