Don't use mspaint. Download irfanview (google search will find it quickly). Irfanview is much better for handling conversion of images, etc.
For example, double click on one bmp file. If it's not the one you want, use the scroll wheel on your mouse to quickly scan through the other bmp files in that folder. When you find the one you want, hit 's' to save. To crop an image, drag your mouse over the section you want to keep, and hit cntrl-y.
Believe me, if you haven't used irfanview before, you'll be please when you first try it.

I'd like to think(as a developer) that people have the decency to pay for the software they use....though I know this isn't the truth I can't condone the piracy of software....nor the use of a major photoeditting application for the purposes of changing image formats. If all you want is to change image formats save yourself the trouble and download irfanview....photoshops intended purpose was not to change image formats.
I'm an artist, i use photoshop for drawing and editing photos. I just said to use photoshop because it keeps images at an outsatndingly high quality, and most people i know have photoshop, or access to it at university, so i wouldn't think twice about telling someone to open it up for any image editing.

Photoshop is just slightly better then the freeware equivalents. See http://gimp.org
If you want it to look and feel like Photoshop, you can use GIMPshop
Still, for converting screenshots, Irfanview (freeware also) is simply the best option.
