Fight the Charr on the Northern Wall?
jdwoody
I realize there is a time limit, but has anyone taken a high level char through just to fight the onslaught? My characters aren't high enough level yet, but I may try to con my guildmates into trying it just for fun.
Just wondering if anyone else had the same idea...

Oh weve all secretly dreamed of doing that as soon as weve seen all of them, and allot of people have already beat them. I havent really found a group of people to do it with me yet so i will eventually.
I want to beat the large gruoup of char right outside the Courthouse town Right by the Char flame temple area. My brother and I, both level 16 warriors got sluaghtered because our low level monk henchman died We want to take them on with a high level monk sometime.

Is this Pre-searing or Post-searing?

The first mission post-searing...
I take it the mission is a failure anyway? That's impressive that they can kill them all before the timer runs out, I was just planning on staying alive until the till then...

It's possible to avoid starting the timer if you just run towards the Char rather than away from them. At least you used to be able to, but I'm not sure if you can do it anymore. This gives you all the time in the world to take them out.

In the pre-searing it's pretty fun to go behind the wall with someone else and try and take them out. We managed to take on the few wandering parties that were on patrol, we'd get their attention and then run back to the place were you revive. We'd get slaughtered but it was good experience. We wanted to find a way to take on the Champions but unfortunately we needed stronger players.
We just sort of did the post-searing with a team, we followed them and ran our arses off back to the dude, Fort Ranik took us from eleven thirty til two fifty to complete the last night of the March BWE. We got the first set of Exp. from that then went and used the catapult to get the last thousand of it. It was quite fun, we're going to go have fun in the pre-searing Northern Wall like we did before, since it takes two to get back there, what with the gate open switch ontop of the wall, the other would have to run through.
We want to take two more players with us, but is that possible in pre-searing? I heard someplace the max was two...

I believe there are lvl limits on the low level missions. A level 20 cannot enter into the first mission.

If they did add level limits, those are new.
I've fought off that Charr horde before, it goes pretty fast with a couple level 20s. There are actually multiple sets of Charr that get let out of different gates along the route back to the wall. You can kill all of 'em, of course.

Yes I have beat them all with one character solo before. It's actually quite simple. The player I used was not at all optimized for this purpose but all I did was use Firestorm as well as Lava Font. There's really no point except for the fun of it since the loot is crap. I used Flare with Mana Channeling so I could kill one shmoe and not loose energy (and yes I used to think Flare was worth something three betas ago)
If you want an even easier build to do this solo, use a Ranger with Edge of Extinction, Power Shots and Firestorm. The spirit will stay for longer than you'll need and when one or more start dying it'll just trigger some sort of mass-murdering-chain-reaction-of-death. But seriously don't bother doing this, it's a waste of time since you get shitty items and it takes too long just to run to the wall. But if you insist on doing so, any AoE with Edge of Extinction will work on a lvl20. If you're actually low level, don't even try it cause the time it takes to fight to get there isn't worth wasting since they will slaughter you once it starts

Yes you can take level 20 characters in there, and yes the horde can be beaten, and yes unfortunately you will run out of time unless u send a runner back first. Me and three of my guild mates stuck around after the cut scene and wasted the whole group. Barrage w/conjure works pretty sweet on groups.

Thanks for all the info! I didn't think it would give good items, would just be a run for the fun of it. Maybe I'll try it when I'm just 16th or 17th level so there will still be some challenge...

The few times that I did it the drops were on par with what you get from Fort Runik catapault runs. Lots of salvagable stuff, but nothing special.
