Guild Wars Diversity - Discussion of new Races in the GW Universe
7 pages • Page 1
I'd like to see a variety of races you choose from, even if they don't do anything specific and only affect your appearance. I believe you can only have humans, right? Isn't that going to severly limit the appearances, and will soon get way too many people looking similar? From the screenshots I saw, mostly everyone looked the same apart from the armour (and the fact about the naked dance party didn't help)

If they add any races I hope it's a race that appears in the first chapter of GW or is completely original. I never want to see gnomes, elves, halflings or anything else that blatantly rips off movies, books ort other games. Dwarves are alright since they are already in, but I'd prefer a brand new race never seen before.

lol they cant do that, that would be copying wow exactly! ![]() |

I would love to have an imp-like race in the game. The game currently has imps, gargoyles and mergoyles for NPCs. Maybe there is more to them than we know. I get tired of always looking like a human (humans, dwarves, gnomes, elves, etc) but also I'm not really into animal-like races (gnolls, minotaurs, etc). Though I would be more than content if they just kept stuck with the human race and added a lot more customizations to the look.

now if they add dwarves then they about have to add elves. dwarves without elves is like ying without yang.
Unless Elves show up later in the game, I'm pretty sure we already have it where there are only Dwarves and no Elves. So it can't be throwing off any ying and yang here, since it's currently being done, except it's only at the NPC level.
I see no problem with adding Dwarves, and the same goes for Undeads. But anything beyond that, and you're starting to hit a gray area and making Guild Wars just like every other MMORPG out there...

But since you brought it up, that would be quite the delicious plot twist if both Humans and Charr had to fight hand-in-hand to defeat "a greater evil." If something like that came up, I would find that very entertaining...
Kind of like when what was left of the Imperial forces and the Rebellion/New Republic forces teamed up to defeat the Ssi-ruuk invaders in Star Wars: The Truce at Bakura by Kathy Tyers.

Asheron's Call 2 Had Humans, Lugians, And Tumeroks. They never copied any other race.
(I think in a later expansion you should be able to transform yourself into an undead (I.E. A quest.. I think a good name for it would be "The Heartripper's Promise"). So the Undead and the Humans could War, and have special outcomes on the game depending on which side does better. Of course this would incorporate a lot of storyline, so it couldn't happen for awhile.)
