Pentagram Image Removal

If you noticed, atleast two necromancer spells in the game (Deathly Swarm) use the Pentagram symbol. This symbol is not only related to the worship of the Devil or worship of various "Dark Figures" throughout history, it was also secretly used in many ritual areas by people such as the Nazis.

For example, in Heinrich Himmler's (Reichsfurer-SS, basically second in command of the Nazi regime) Wewelsburg castle the most inward ritual chamber, Himmler’s personal ritual chamber, the floor of which was a giant pentagram, there he tortured Jews, British and American POWs, and various smaller organizations. Obviously there was a reason to why he plastered a giant version of it around the center of his inner sanctum.

Recall that the Swastika is the Ancient buddhist symbol of peace turned upside down, meaning wrath and war and that it has no right to exist.

The Pentagram itself stems from ancient Babylon and was later adopted by Roman and Greek cults, it still lives on today, being used by Neo-Nazi organizations and serial murderers.

Obviously, the spread of such occult symbols that are still in use today is serious. We should be moving forward, to science, not backwards to the Dark Ages. If you share the same sentiments as I do, then go to www.guildwars.com/support and write out a complaint and post it to the Guild Wars public relations department.

NOTE: I am not doing this out of some Christian crusade. I for one, do not think that the image belongs in the game as much I do not think that scriptures from the bible or crosses should be implemented into the game. I am doing this for the same reason as one would to remove the use of Swastikas in the game.

What if I was a devil worshipping, death loving, cultist who made daily sacrafices to Satan? "Oh Noes!" There are Ankhs around every corner in this game. I seriously can't play for more than 30 seconds (in a mission/whatever) without seeing one. The symbol of life used in Ancient Egyption cultures which infringe on my beliefes are obviously endorced by Arena.Net. The symbol you are complaining about is seen extremely rarely, as deathly swarm isn't a widely used skill, and necromancers are uncommon at best. Even worse is the fact that you cannot even pinpoint why it is insulting. Unless you have something against wiccans or something. But this ankh needs to be replaced by a non-religious item immediatly, as I can hardly play without seeing one, and I must cover my eyes every time. Ach! There's healing hands. Ach! There's every other healing spell in the game.

If you ask me, the above is completely rediculous. But ya know what? It makes perfect sense, according to your very own logic.


PS: Asking people to not argue against your point of view is rediculous. It would be like if I made a thread saying "Petition for UAS/UAR for PvP characters" and then at the bottom I wrote "PLEASE DON'T POST OPPOSING POINTS OF VIEW!!11ONE"

I beleive that the U.S goverment is a bunch of Neo-Nazi Devil worshippers. Why you ask? Well because their millitary headquarters are located in a pentagon shaped building. They must secertly worshit santan. No we are all insulted over this what will we do.

Whats wrong with a swastika first of all? It used to be a good sign, some bad guys used it and now its bad? Bad logic.

So, lets say Im a psychopathic killer, and I get an opportunity to be the leader of one of the most powerful nations in the world. I decide my regime should use..oh..a peace sign for my 'symbol of domination.' Now, I kill lots of people....all of a sudden the peace sign is bad?

The pentagram has been in (nearly?) every RPG and MMORPG I have played. The US Capitol is build on a giant pentagram, the pentagram is a mathimatical wonder. Just because YOU perceive a symbol as offensive, doesnt make it so. I can irrationaly decide a circle is offensive and get all bent out of shape about it too, but it wouldnt do any good to anyone, and it would just frustrate me.

Now I think this is your third post on the same subject. You have not found sympathetic ears, yet you try. Some would call that valliant, I call it foolish.

I presume you are young, because your hostility toward a symbol is very narrow minded and ignorant. Youth and ignorance walk hand in hand. Your bound to be offended by that statement, but think. There are many GOOD things about a pentagram, you CHOOSE to see the bad.

Alas, this is a forum. People are entirely free to post their opinions on subjects, negative or not. And in this particular case, you're just dead wrong on the money; unfortunately you seem to have spent very little time trying to read/understand those 170 replies.

Just because the Nazi's dabbled a bit in the occult doesn't give them ownership of every single symbol used in that field, nor do those symbols represent their villainy in any way. The (reverse) swastika is the token representation of their regime, and as such is on an entirely different level than a pentagram.

I just wonder though, did you write to iD to tell them to remove all the pentagrams from their Doom line of games as well? We're not talking one or two spell effects that might look like pentagrams there, we're talking pentagrams splayed all over the damn game, with a clear overtone of devilry involved.

Im playing the odds, I know some young people are more open minded and vice versa. Most of the time when individuals back irrational ideas with extreme passion, they are young. I only presume he is young because there is only a 20%(imo) chance Im wrong.

My goal now is to either make this thread Off-Topic and Absurd again or to here an intelligent argument supporting tour view. Agreed but this narrow-mindedness is mostly taught by these kids parents. So it expontialy increases until it leads to a war killing off a bunch of them and then the whole thing starts over again.

As for the stupidity and youth: I'm 16, and within the past month, I realize I have appeared very narrow minded. But you must understand that the current Guild Wars is not the game that I thought I was buying, and thus I complained. When people told me to "quit bitching", I grew increasingly pissed off, as I could not find a single valid reason that went against my own oppinions. This isn't the game we were advertised to through beta or through any written word. Before this sham, I'd like to think that I was fairly open minded, and definatly not ignorant, although I do have strong oppinions. That is not a sign of ignorance.
