Things to do at Guild Halls!

There should definatly be some more amusements for us at our Guild Hall, i think everyone is agreed on that. But what?

Ive had some ideas:

1) Some dummies which we can attack, to try out different spells, combos etc.

2) Something that attacks us... summon a monster? or a henchman to spar with?

3) Duelling area (as discussed in 1v1 thread)

4) There is already going to be a Guild chest isnt there?

What are your ideas?

I wouldn't mind having a dueling area to test out builds/team builds amongst friendly guildmates. It'd be a much more effective way of trying out builds rather than having to go into an Arena each time you wish to work on it.

The sparring area and the bank ideas are really good ones that I have heard already.

Perhaps purchaseable defense upgrades would be something to think about too?

If purchasable defense upgrades were available then farming would suddenly be a viable tactic for rising in the GvG ladder. That's bad, we want no incentives to farm or bot.

Not to mention, that makes it incredibly hard for newcomers to get started.

Edit: On a similar note, I wouldn't mind being able to get cosmetic upgrades for the hall

Sounds nice.

1. Dummies/Scarecrows or an arena to practise.
2. NPC's that sell furniture for the Guild Hall
3. vials of dye/buckets of paint to customise your Guild Hall
4. NPC's at the GuildHall, so you won't have to leave for town

Maybe we can have rooms for tactics, feast while watching semi-naked girls dance onto our tables, or maybe have a target practice for archers, invincible dummy for spells so you know how much your spells damage do, and maybe even set armour lvls for dummys. Maybe make dummies that fight till u get 1 health...

I would love to see girls dance on tables

Instead of dummies, why not have Ruiks tied to a chair with which to test all sorts of attacks on?

Chess would be cool if it had Guild Wars themed pieces. Chaar pawns, or those undead horsemen as knights.

I really like the idea of guilds being able to purchase an area for their Guild Hall where members can fight each other without having to enter an arena.

This wouldnt be too hard to impliment would it? I think this is something which should definatly be addressed in future updates, if not the release. Can anyone think of reasons why this would imbalance the game, encourage boting or have a negative effect of any kind?

I dont see how it would affect the balance of the game. I like the idea of having a seperate arena (that the guild may have to purchase) in order to practice builds or spar with your guild mates.

How about instead of just Purchasing, what if the Guild had to earn their sparing area. This could be done a few different ways: Win a few GvGs then be offered to have a sparing aren built for a small yet reasonable fee, so you still have to do something other than be an enoumous guild with hordes of gold; Or going with a very similiar idea, but instead of GvG, maybe you can earn something like the Sigil for competing in different PvP areas; Or for those whos Guild refuses to partake in PvP or any sort, there could be a Quest available where part of he reward would some how make it possible for your Guild to add a sparing area.

I like the idea of a practice arena; I hate the idea of making it part of the Guild Hall. I have friends who aren't in the same guild as I, nor in any guild at all. There's no good reason to exclude them from being able to practice with me or with one another.

That is why you keep the normal arena and then you could have a pratice arena in your guld hall

Not really, since you would presumably have more control over the game settings in your theoretical guild practice arena than we see in the normal pvp arenas (which means you wouldn't be able to 'practice' something as well in the normal arenas).

There is nothing unreasonable about having a sparring area in the Guild Hall - it is just a cool feature that would make a guild want to purchase theirs quicker

I absolutely agree with the sparring arena in the guild halls. But i think that it should be able to be earned in different ways. They should be able to win the arena in GVG. Or earn it in a quest. They should have these two different ways set up because some guilds will not be as large or as competitive(good) as other guilds so they will not beable to beat the other guilds in the arena and if you only give a practice arena to the best guilds they will continue to be unbeatable and dominate never letting any other guild have a chance. So i propose that a guild quest be made to have a practice arena in the guild hall. I do think though that the winning guild should get like something extra for their guild hall for winning GVG's maybe like earn Guild xp so like wen u get to enough you can build another guild hall so you can get a couple guild halls in different places in tyria so you wouldnt have to always go bak to your one spot. And with that guild xp you can upgrade your practice arena to buy a group of henchmen to fight against your group. Maybe this guild xp could just be money instead and have the guild pool thier money to buy the other guild hall or like improve the existing hall

If not already said i agree with like the chest/safe/bank where you could hold your valuables that you need but cant use right now or like your money (if money weighs nething)

I do not agree with the naked ladies dancin on tables but the human players in chess sounds fun but i think that should be saved for another expansion and let them get the important stuff like practice arenas in the release.

And the furniture in the halls sounds like its not that necessary for the release, again maybe an issue for the next chapter.

O i almost forgot a lot of players wont have a guild so i think there should be like a practice arena store place where you and your friends could rent a practice arena to use in like a town where theres different types of arenas like the cheap stuff where theres just an arena and like the next is like it has some dummies and like after that there could be henchmen or monsters and so on

o quick question in pvp servers are guilds gonna beable to have wars against eachother so like you can attack them in their guild halls and anywhere and not just in the arena?

I agree that an arena should be implimented. As mentioned earlier there should either be a quest that you complete to get this. That, or a quest gives it and a certain number of guild battles won, gives it. If the arena is only gained by winning X battles then (as mentioned earlier) only the good teams will continue to get better.

It would probably be difficult to make a sparring arena that allows guild vs NPC. Not to mention pointless. You might as well fight another guild if you're going to face lesser NPC's. However, allowing 1v1 sparring or larger scale team vs team sparring matches within your own guild would be fun.

One GREAT reason to do this would be to allow members to progress status in their own guild. You can gain respect among your guildmates if you are undefeated by them at 1v1 sparring matches. Guild leaders could decide whether or not to promote someone to the officer position based on a well fought sparring match. Not sure who you want to take in your team of 8 in a GvG match? sparr and find out. So many great things would come from a guild sparring arena.

This game is all about competing and trying to be better than the next guy. The sparring arena would only further this competition in a friendly setting.

No Idea

You guys realize none of the guild halls actually look practically useful or fitting as guild halls? Maybe the isle of the dead, but that's about it that's indoors.

I have a feeling that, when more indoor content is added in the first expansion, indoor areas will probably be added for Guild Halls.

Lunar from the threads created over these many months waiting for the game regarding the guild halls I sure hope they add something to them. Pretty confident they've had a plan but haven't seen anything yet. You're right it would be nice and yes, first expanse would be a good time.

I remember Gaile saying something on these boards once about "hanging a moose head over the hearth" when talking about possibly being able to buy additions for Guild Halls. Doesn't "hearth" sound like it might indicate indoor areas eventually? Hehe. I dunno, it's possible she was just being figurative. Still, it's a nice thought.
