Players posing as henchmen?

It's probably just me... but I've noticed quite frequently there are people standing in the henchman lineup. Now I use henchies almost exclusively and I have never needed to stand next to them. It's just seems kinda strange, almost as if they are really desparate to get in a party. I will admit that I have in my haste accidently invited them.

I do it for fun.

Sometimes people will invite you on accident and if you accept really quickly they'll never notice that you're not a henchman.

Hehe, this is actually quite funny that you bring this up. One of my friends introduced me to doing this. As far as I know, it's not about trying to get into a party, it's more just like screwing with people. May not sound nice, but it's kinda funny when you are invited to a party, then dropped quickly, almost out of embarassment on the inviter's part. Perhaps I'm just immature, but I think it's quite humorous to watch, even though I've only done it once or twice.

i mostly do it to pose w/ the henchies (ie devona/mhenlo/other allstar henchies) and get a nice desktop screen for myself of each of my characs.
i also do it when i try to sell something. getting away from the crowds. stating that im beside one of the henchies and meet up there.

but i guess some ppl might have a purpose like that...(to get a group)

And if they go in a mission with you not realising, you act exactly like a Henchman until a crucial point

I used to have a PvP character called "Element Henchwoman" and you wouldn't believe the amount of people who thought I was a henchie even when entering the tomb.

i think my favorite in hoh was charect named "Archer Henchman" he was an awesome trapper and with no secondary class and all warriors would target henchie first little did they know that about 12 traps were about to own there ass everytime even bettter dont know if i should be saying this but he would lay 3 traps on there body by the time they were res'd theyde die agian right away

Lol i do it sometimes when i go afk for a lilttle while, and sometimes i just do it for fun . Once i stood at the end of the henchmen line and like 20 people stood next to me, man the line was huge O.O

The coin suddenly drops when the Inviter realises that henchmen don't go around picking up items.

I stand by the henchmen for fun, and that's probably what other people do too.

Haven't had such "luck" of getting one in my party, but if I did - kick + ignore. Go make fun of someone else.

Heheh I've never actually gone out with player, but I've clicked and invited when I was in a hurry.

If I'm really bored, I'll go to Old Ascalon and stand in the henchie line-up. Maybe the noobs'll think they can have a really cool necromancer henchie join their party!

lol. one of the guy's in my guild made a guy called "Brawler Henchrnan". I need to get him to stand next to the hench line up.

Who said it wasn't. Some people get hours of hours of entertainment fiddling with a rubber band...thats fun for them. It does make you question their intelligence though, doesnt it.

Yea, it is simple but effective hijynx though. You don't really need to be a rocket scientist to play. Beside I'd rather have people doing silly stuff than exploiting when they get bored

Yea in the beta there was a warrior henchman and a mesmer henchman. Would love to see them wandering around with the henchies. Names always made me laugh anyway.
