I don't need to be told who to ignore by anyone. If I want to ignore someone I shall choose to do so myself, not be told by someone else, thanks.

Relax. The tone is not because he's trying to force people to put them on an ignore list but because he's just posting to spread the information about them and is investing more time in the content than the method of delivery.

Tippy, where are the screenshots?

hey Tippy, are you gonna upload the screenies? Or are we gonna have to get them via email? Also, what did they do? What is the warning?

Diplo: Good for you. There are people who will ignore on a good screenie or post by others. So this is for them.

So don't DO it then! Deliberately going against guidelines is just stupid, no matter how right you think you are. If everyone decides for himself when rules do or do not apply, rules lose their very purpose - keeping this a decent place.

This sort of thing is pointless - the ignore list isn't infinite, and there's way more people to ignore than you can put on your list. Adding these people solves nothing at all, they're just grains of sand in the desert.

1. I hope you converted them to jpg. There are apps that will let you do it without losing too much quality. If you're trying to upload full-screen bitmaps, good luck with that.

2. Did you crop? Is it only the chat that needs to be seen?

Wait until you see the screens (Which are uploading right now so about 5 miniutes) before you decide. I'm removing the names unless you PM me and they are quite easy to see in the screen shots. Removing them because Silmor is right it isn't up to me what rules I should follow

Then here's to cross posting in the game suggestion forum to get the list lengthened.

Ok, I seriously hope they are out $50. People like that make me wish you had to fax a copy of your drivers license to prove that you're over 18 in order to play. And yes, I realize that EVERYONE under 18 doesn't act like that.

He also called black people babbons but part of that screen is cut off because I was talking to a guilde about something and I forgot to take the whole shot.

Here's the worst I happened to capture. I couldn't figure out how to report him though, so I gave up taking screenshot of other asses. This guy is obviously a minor or a very immature adult. I mean, who says "I will hack you now!"?

Oh, btw, paint WILL save as jpeg, but the quality sucks balls. Use FastStone Viewer or something to do batch converts. It's free and lets you choose the compression algorithms and how much quality loss you want. Also, for someone who would post in such a condescending manner, you should have verified that putting them on ignore would work. It doesn't!

Thanks Fantras, I could not read that. Not my system, it's my old eyes.

I see this stuff all the time. To use your ignore list is not worth it. I need more space on it for friends. We need at least 100 spots for names there and that would still be a drop in the bucket.

I honestly believe to curb a good deal of this bad behaviour...correction...UNACCEPTABLE behaviour is to bring in game moderators. Live moderators. Just like a police force. Some with very noticable uniforms and some undercover.

It's like the first online rpg of counter strike. We need admins.

Also, this thread inspired me to request longer ignore lists and, subsequently not requested by me but supported by me, that the ignore ignores all text, not just whispers. Check it out here

My problem with putting people on ignore is that you may be unable to hear what they're saying, the rest of the population still can. It solves the problem for you, and only for you. Blacklisting the hundreds of offenders and expecting people to manually add them all to their ignore list is not practical in the least.

If you see someone acting in an offensive manner, take a screenshot and send it to ArenaNet (like EmperorTippy did) so they can decide on further action if necessary. That's how ArenaNet has requested you to respond to this sort of thing, there's no point in bringing it to this forum.

next time open them up with something... even MS paint, and save as JPG.. they will be postable size then... Thanks BTW for the heads up...

I have been thinking of putting up a public ignore list on a little webpage. something people can do a quick post to with a small, JPG screenshot, and post the nickname of the offender too... Something like the N00bStories.com webpage... we will see...

The point is that while ANet is taking further action or whatever the person is continuing to do this. I wouldn't have posted this on the forums ecept for the fact that 1 of the offenders had been reported last night/ early this morning for doing the exact same type of thing, milider though but still past the offensive point. The reason for the post and for people to ingor them is that they continue to do these types of things to the community while they are being investigated and the community shouldn't have to deal with it.

EDIT: I know how to make them in to non-bitmaps but I realized that I had forgotten to half way through the upload. Thanks for the advice though

This is a bit off topic but it does illustrate some of the limits of "ignore."

Last night I whispered someone in order to answer a "noobish" question they were asking out loud. A player had finished a quest but had forgotten to click on the NPC again to get the second part of it. No matter how many times I tried to explain that, he just couldn't seem to understand. I must have tried half a dozen times. I began to wonder if he was having me on.

As I was about to start a mission, after explaining one last time, I finally had to put him on Ignore to stop his constant stream of repetitive questions. So the player actually joined our group just so he could say, "You don't know crap!" to me. Then he left.

Just thought that was funny.

Still off-topic but ingore should also make the ingored player invisible and insubstantial so that you don't even know that they exist in any place outside of tombs. If they try to join a party with you It just shouldn't allow it.

Now on-topic I hope this helped some of you in some way.

this isn't so bad really... the guy's ignorant and showing it quite clearly... but I've seen far worse just in casual chat...

as an off note: the newest member of our guild is 13, so I take more offense to "aggressive profanity" than I would normally. People like this shouldn't be candidates for a ban, but they should be punished or warned by, as was said, an "in-house" police force.

First thing, if you are reported, does Guild Wars keep logs of what people say?
Second, how do you report someone?
third, if you are reported, are you banned for a certain period of time or do you immediatly get a permanent ban and no type of warning?

Thanks

I would like to suggest a "Problem Players" report, making player names publicly displayed when the character has been put on a large number of different players ignore lists. This would bring some sort of community negative to those people who are so bad that they end up on hundreds of player's ignore listings. Obviously this is open to negative abuse, but you can see what I am aiming at.

- another similar suggestion -

Some sort of "Abusive Player Ranking" that allows us to not only give negative marks for abusive language and such, but also positive points for being helpful and attentive to others while in the game. Not that this rank would do anything for or against you in game, but would serve as a heads-up when dealing with these people. High marks = he might not bite my head off if I ask him a question, even if he thinks it's stupid. Low marks = not going let this guy join my group and sling verbal abuse at my teammates. This method has a means of redemption for the abusive players, by making a point to be helpful and curtious they can regain positive marks to clean their sullied name.

Just a couple thoughts on the matter, destroy them if you like.

ignoring works, and it gets rid of the problem. Also, having a ranking would get abused, and some people ignore annoying people, or trade spammers, so it wouldnt work.

Wandering my own road.

2 things that really irk me that some people do that I've taken screenshots, but haven't really felt up to reporting:

1) Censor bypass:
The filters exist for a reason, and people who don't like hearing things can turn it on. However, that doesn't stop people from switching 2 letters in the word or using ! for l etc. And they do it on purpose.
I keep my censor on for a reason. I don't use foul language, ever. Nor do I enjoy hearing it.

2) Cybering on Talk channel in towns and the PvP waiting areas
Not all the time, but while waiting in the Competition Arena area before entering, and a few rare instances elsewhere, people have been cybering over the talk channel.
Aside from many of them using censor bypass to say the things they say and have everyone else hear, that's still pretty inappropriate to be saying over the talk channel. And of course, they've rehearsed emotes to use to emulate it to the best of their ability.

Haven't seen the above yet? Spend some more time in the towns and waiting areas. You'll see it eventually.
Pretty much why I live in the international districts. (Since you can't ignore people over in non-whisper channels)

I don't go to chatrooms intended for cybering, and I don't play Guild Wars to see it, and Guild Wars is rated Teen, not Adult. Those actions are in no way appropriate for the game to be said and done in public.
