Customized weapons

You know wat would be a good idea the ability to uncustomized ur weapons. think about u customized taht killer bow/axe watever and u get a beter one later on say a 2nd gold weapon with beter stats watnot and u cant sell ur previous one because its customized(i dont scam so i woudnt sell it). it wud be nice to uncustomize ur weapons so that you can sell it for some gold if ur short or if u want to get decent stuff should u make new heros. I don't know about the rest of you but this seems like a logical thing to do for the game.

No, purely unlogical, purely pointless and a ruin of the customization purpose. Also, if you want some quick replies, find the other dozen posts that have been done on this topic and were eventually left to die. Customization is a +20% damage and it helps you do more damage, but in return, it's trading value is completely useless. Therefore, it's a fine choice they give you in order to exchange effect for cash, except you can't undo it. Logical is hardly the word, theres no logic in a person who wants to sell a weapon that he customized but can't so he tries to claim logic onto an idea that would benefit himself and ruin it for others.

how would it ruin others? if you uncustomize it u can sell it to someone else who might want to customize it therfore you both end up with what you want.
Rajamic
But that would defeat the whole idea of customizing. It was designed around the idea of getting extra damage for not being able to ever trade it. That type of trade-off is very prevailant in Guild Wars, most notably in the 8 skill slots.
Also, if a pair of pants gets tailored (AKA customized) for a 5'1" 120lb man, how would you uncustomize it for a 6'4" 270 lb guy? Similar idea.

Uncustomizing things would cost you half of the materials it would cost to craft it and some gold depending on the stats of the item.
Perhaps make it so you can only uncostumize it once, with it saying you uncostumized it you can't scam people.

ya i agree with speed touch the analogy for pants is not very good since ur dealing with weapons in a virtual game. just make it cost materials or something so u can uncustomize it. comon most ppl who start out new find out ya u shuld customize ur weapons only to find out later that maybe it wasnt a good idea since they could have sold it for some nice gold.

Wow, I can't believe they're aren't more people shooting this idea down. Being able to uncustomize a weapon totally destroys the idea of customization. Guild Wars is all about trade offs. You can't uncustomize for the same reason you can't bring all your skills into battle. You have to make the choice.
If you want a real life reason for this, weapons can be customized. If you get a custom-built sword, for example, the sword will be built to the height perfect for you, with a grip that fits your hand perfect. In real life you can't get anything that is customized, uncustomized.
Also, uncustomize isn't even a real word.

LOL uncustomize is not a word.
...and uncustomizing means that there is NO penalty for customizing unless you think 10 gold is a lot.

Who cares if it's a real word. It's a choice you make, do I ruin the value of the item for damage, or do I keep it tradeable but wimpy? I have yet to customise my "good" weaponry, as it isn't necessarily what I'll be using end game.

Do Not Abuse The English Language
This is a message board, not an AOL chatroom. As such, you have all the time necessary to articulate your posts in a coherent matter. "You" is only two more letters than "u", it won't kill you to type them. Completely illegible posts are subject to moderation - and I can't guarantee their accuracy of 'translating' the authors original message, if you get my drift. When one punctuation works (like a ?) instead of 10 (like ?!?!), use one.
First off read the forum rules on grammar. Secondly you can sell your customized weapons to a merchant for gold if you like. Thirdly what everyone else has said about decustomizing.

I agree with what's been said: not only is this idea horrible, it totally screws with the game. Basically what you want us to do is be able to sell back our armor for the exact cost of the materials and gold so we can buy another set of armor when we think our current set sucks.
It just doesnt' work that way.
