GW Needs Collectible Items
DaRhino
In my dark days of playing Runescape (shame shame ), the item groups in the game were as follows...
Weapons-Self Explanatory
Armour-Self Explanatory
Ingredients/Materials-Self Explanatory
and..
Collectible Items- Items that had no real purpose, but were kinda cool to have, like a status symbol.
I think Guild Wars needs some of these things. Maybe this would be considered fluff, but I think it is a well needed money drain for the game. And it's fun to collect stuff anyways . What do you guys think? Dumb idea? Cool idea? Hopefully the latter .

I thought that was the whole idea behind 15K armour. Statistic-wise, it's no different from the stuff you can get from Droknar's Forge, but it looks cool and provides a money sink for the economy.

Ya, there should be a jewlry spot, so i can make my African American warrior look just like Mr.T. Come on!
DaRhino
Yes, but if you played Runescape, you would know exactly what I'm talking about. Money sinks everywhere. Very hard to save up money in that game. I think that it should be the same way here also.

Rs has gold sinks because of skills.., and the "collectables" horribly inflated, thats why the 50 santas i bought at 5m are around 150 now..
I suppose some collectables would be nice, and the fact there a max amount of cash on gw would limit how much they could inflate to but id rather anet prioritised more practical armour and weapons just to make some veriaty.

Heh, I still have around 800k in my Runescape character. Plus a santa hat and green mask or something, it took a while to earn all of it but it was a pretty fun game.

About 2 weeks ago I dropped all my Rune armour in Lumbridge... All the newbs went INSANE. Funny thing is, my Rune plate never got found, it just disappeared on the ground, no one even saw it
theclam
No. Why would you want the devs to spend time making items that don't have any effect?

Precisely Manadar... otherwise, why would they have created ale already?

As long as nothing forces me to run around collecting stupid little widgets, I don't care if they put it in for other people.

If they ever include guild houses in the game some time later on, this might become a pretty popular idea.

There IS 1 special item, that you cant find anywhre in the game except Pre-Sear area, its not godly or smthn, just has DIFFRENT LOOKS then anything else ^_^
my friend got a sword like that, i got an axe.

I like the idea of collectibles but without a place to display them, who would want them? It seems most people only pay for stuff like this that has no purpose to display so everyone can see how leet they are.
DaRhino
I guess I didn't explain enough. Some of the collectibles (probably most) would be cool hats/other physical things that you could parade around and say "Hey ch00bz look at meh über 1337ness." Of course that was exaggerated, but that's kinda how it works. Plus it would help the economy a bit I believe.

i used to play runescape.quit for gw after being scammed 525k.not the first time though.i dont want another phat going up 1 mil in price every week.50-60 mil for a blue phat!that is just dumb.and all the rude ppl every other sentence in varrock wolrd 2 is noob or some kind of scam.i dont want a phat type item that only the uber rich can afford.im not sure if you were playing when they nerfed the maul and whip but they suck now.
chaos dragoon
and it is super hard to save money in rs.i dont want guild wars to be like that.

I like the idea. I remember in Ragnarok Online, I loved saving up enough money to buy a crown to where when I enter towns and stuff. I think they should add expensive accessories to decorate your character with.
DaRhino
That's exactly what I'm talking about.
Armada Hunter
My turn!. If this were implimented, you could put your collectables in your house on wall hooks or something!. Yay
DaRhino
That you could.
Arctic Strike
I feel that any extra stuff (not calling it crap out of respect ) would just take away from the game play and make the game more about getting stuff instead of trying to hack, slash, burn, fry, freeze, smash, confuse, stupify, exhuast, and kill as many things as you can all while trying to avoid the previously mentioned items. IMHO, I'd say keep those items out of GW because the 'extra stuff' is what ruined many games thus the reason why I stopped playing them. Games aren't about the stuff you get, it's about having fun. A never-ending quest for 'stuff' is not fun for me.
