Duplicate guild tag names

It was bad enough when I saw a guild tag of [ROSE], which was darned close to my guild tag of [Rose]. But, tonight, I saw another guild with the tag of [Rose]...

Duplicate tag names should not be allowed. How is anyone able to differentiate between my guild and theirs when the tag is the same? There is no way of seeing that my guild is "Guilded Rose", and their guild is "Fill-in-the-blank".

If they do something raunchy, or pull a scam, it could very well be our guild which is blamed for it. And all because the tag name is exactly the same, even though the full guild name may not be similar at all.

We are honorable people, and want to maintain that reputation...

My guild is KoS and I've seen at least 3 other guilds that were KoS, but different capes thankfully

I saw another guild with the tag of EoG, but we simply joked about me being in their guild. If a player makes a guild and cape to impersonate others, it's most likely a reportable offense. It was tempting when I saw a player named Zero Negative yesterday.

well i think duplicate clan names are dumb people shouldnt steal clan names from other people.. you can simply check to see if the tag is already taken on the guildwars website if there ranked top... 1000 maybe i dont know. i checked for KaN because that is very well known clan from XBL games like CS and Halo2, but somebody had a clan called Kan about 2-3 times so not being a clan duper i just typed in a simple X after my Clan name. so for all you people who have maybe a popular clan name like for example "WTF" and "Sin" plz make it unique

There aren't that many tags to choose from, and who cares if there's another "KaN" or whatever out there. If someone shows up and explains that an [SoF] member named IpWnAlLnOoBs was being a pain, I just point at our member list and explain that we don't have anyone by that moronic a name, and they must be from a different SoF. If your guild has any reputation at all it won't matter, as people will bother checking on your site, and if you don't have any reputation it won't matter, because nobody cares.

Keep a list of all active members and their character names on your website. Really, with only 26 alphabetic characters to choose from there are only so many tags to go around. Many clans have "of" in their title, so piles of the use an "o" on their tag, so not surprisingly there are other SoF tags out there, but that's life.
