Like I said, poison is not an issue for me. The guy you saw was an idiot.

Don't forget Watchful Spirit for 2 more pips of health regen, so you can technically cancel out a few things.

What if the monk carried a second set of armor stocked with vigor runes for when health degen was cast on them? Would some quick armor switching and creative kiting help in this instance? I'd probably look into spells which increase your max health like Vital Blessing [+ 40-170 max HP] . [It's an enchantment, so has some risks]

Actually, I ditched it. My first post has my most recent build. My eight skill for now is Vengeance for PvP/Rebirth for PvE.

Dunno.. It's pretty unconventional, and I don't know monks that well. It may take a bit of time to wrap my head around it, but I can see this being useful - esp. in PvE.

In PvE you can out tank a W with this build. I use Mending+Balthazars Spirit+ Protective Aura+Life Bond on all my team mates (unless soloing the I add essence bond to myself)+ Spellbreaker. I also bring Mend Ailment and Hex Breaker. Then you pull out the good old sword and pound away. It takes forever to kill stuff but it works. Oh I also use Balthazars aura on myself.

If you ever meet Super Rusty or anything with a name containing Rusty, and he's a Monk, and you have no enchant strippers...

You. Are. Screwed.

why not use protective spirit instead of bond. ya its 10% but it doesn't drain your energy and the recharge is less than the duration. one reversal of fortune would completely heal you with max divine you'd never die....lol

Theres no point of this build except for farming solo in some selected areas. You'll take forever to kill , and cant help other party members much.

Nope, Carinae, I've got more than 76 hp. I don't know how much it does when BM is 16.

And this build is made to keep enemies off my teammates while the other team beats on me.

The point of this build in PvE is that you're a better damage-soak than an armored warrior. The point in PvP is that you look like a weakling and are targeted, but end up being able to take it, wasting your opponents' efforts and allowing your teamates to kill those who are dishing it.

Once you get all set up it's pretty decent, but it takes a good amount of energy to get there. One of the biggest obstacles in PvP would be a Ranger spirit-spam team. A well timed Nature's Renewal or two will put the kabosh on this build pretty quickly. (As well as multiple shatter/drain/inspired/strip enchantment spells, but I have yet to see a team equipped and organized enough to spam those) Is the damage from Desecrate Enchantments reduced by Protective Bond? If not that could get pretty nasty.

Besides the Enchantment attacks, the other potential problem I see would be from an energy denial Mesmer. This build is pretty keyed on Protective Bond and if it ends cause you have no energy you could be in hot water.

A question of my own, how does DP treat you? For most builds, DP adds up and can become pretty devistating. I can see how in this build while the Energy penalty would be difficult, the Heath hit would actually benefit you.

Sorry. I don't know what DP stands for.

Also, I've yet to find a spirit spamming team yet... I would imagine that if my team saw a bunch of spirits being spammed, that they'd attack them on-sight. But you're right, I'd have to quickly cast all my stuff back again or die in two - three hits.

Energy denial mesmers are something I hate. In-combat is usually not a problem with me losing energy, Blessed Signet recovers pretty quickly. However, if I'm casting my resurrection spell and a mesmer uses the chance to completely interrupt and shut down my energy, then I'm in a serious jam.

I'd also like to point out that if my energy is 0, Protective Bond still stays until someone hits me.

Wow, just registered with this forum, and found this thread ^_^. I am one of the firsts to design this build, using the 105 health to make yourself invincible (the build was around eariler but people were doing it with 480 hp or 260 hp and such...) Yet heres how you do damage and become invincible at the same time [btw, my IGN is Heart of Sword for this build, I am known as the monk who solo'd the UW ] but heres the build:

Prot bond
Balth's Spirit
Mending
Essence Bond
Blessed Signet
Healing Breeze
Balthazar's Aura
Shield of Judgement

Your stats for this specific build should be:
Protection:14 (For Energy -2 Prot bond)
Healing:13 (For +4 Mending)
Smiting:13 (For damage, you stupid people!)
Divine Favor: 8(For Blessed Signet to add 12 energy per cast)
Leftover: 2
Health: 105

These stats are WITH Superior runes.

Tips: Cast Protection Bond, Balthazar's Spirit, Mending, Essence Bond IN ORDER so it is difficult for mesmers to shatter enchant your vital enchantment that makes the build run (Protection Bond). Use Shield of Judgment (SoJ) to slow down the attack rate of your opponents and to damage them too. Some warriors are very stupid and will kill themself if you let them :P. Use Balthazar's Aura to cause some havoc ^_^.
Most importantly of all, DONT SUCK, it helps

As many have said, this build is pretty workable for PvE, but for PvP... you just need someone to cast Rend Enchantments (will remove just about ALL your enchantments) followed by a spike and you're gone.

I can see this being useful in running/exploring. Also, I don't think it is designed for PvP supperman.

i've played with this build for a long time, not once has someone casted rend enchantment or lingering curse, so this single person will take you out shit doesnt really exist, except in tombs, in which you arent really noticed. even if a necro did use rend, they would nearly kill themself and "1 spike and their gone"

prot bond works on max unbuffed HP right?

Surely with this in mind, you could add vital blessing on top and double (or more) your hp without being able to take more than 6 dmg still? Couldn't be bad

also hex breaker works on every hex, but it ends once it's blocked one.

Lingering Curse and Rend Enchantments are very popular in 4v4/Tombs/GvG. Not sure about random arena, because that's just random and I don't visit it much apart from testing new builds.

But that's not the real problem. Nature's Renewal is. And NR is extremely popular. So plop, goodbye!
