Highest Presearing level?

So is the highest level you can get presearing 16? I figure if you went straight into killing & did no quests, you could go up to 8 or so, then hit northlands till 15. Since the Charr bosses are level 10 they'd stop giving you xp at 15. Then you could go do all the quests for the reward xp and hit 16.

I just hit 10 presearing, but once you get to the Northlands only point for XP it can be a pain to find someone to team with that doesn't suck

On a related note... is it totally impossible to get a rune using a regular salvage kit, or just really unlikely? Getting a rune presearing would be quite a boost. So far no luck, always just salvage out the crafting materials. The Charr drop lots of minor runes in purple armor.

I teamed with a level 11 (I was level 9) against the Charr hordes. I got 6 runes from it all. I tried to salvage one without the expert kit and lost it, so I didn't attempt to try the others until I got out of pre-searing.

because runes are so worth it....wood planks are worth more money than runes are.

I wasn't even a Wa/Mo - at that level a Wa/Me has nearly as much healing between Healing Signet and Ether Feast.

um ya....that's not "getting a rune"...you don't get the rune until you salvage it..

I got a funny feelign the other poster was refering to this as well.

for clarification...You can get drops with runes IN them...you CAN'T however get a rune in pre-sear

Wow. I see anyone over 8th and I'm thinking they just don't wanna live in the desolated aftermath and prefer their GW game nice and pretty. I've seen only a couple 10ths and nothing higher.

One I asked, why are you still here? To which he replied "still where?" :) I asked him to type /age... 150h. in Presear. I assume chatting and naked dancing, mostly. (I guess he could be a guild crier/recruiter bot, but he did answer me so he was at his keyboard that time.)

Uh, I don't know this off the top of my head, but if the Charr were 10th and you were 14th... wouldn't you need to kill about 1000 of them to level?

lol, I'm workin my wya up there, I made mistake of doing all quests already though , I'm mostly just keeping my char there to help new people, mostly friends when they start playing, or try the game out, but I help people if they need it for any random quest or if they're looking for collector items. And trying to kill char is fun, I'm only approaching lvl 8 so, I usually get killed pretty quick

I got to level 11 or 12 or so, and got bored. I explored the whole map, did all the quests, got around 3 runes, got a +24 bowgrip, and some other stuff. 2k of gold, 20 or so dyes ( 5 of em black ). BORING AS HELL! Only fun thing was owning the other team in the PvP thing.

I've got a level 8 warrior with no second profession in pre-searing and I've only completed one quest. I did the 1st warrior quest to get some skills and received some other warrior quests to get skills but have not yet completed those quests since the skills are granted before quest completion. I've got other characters that are beyond pre-searing. I guess I do like the green grass and the pretty blue water. I've also noticed that for my pre-searing character it seams to get more dye drops than my other post-searing characters. Odd.

The highest I bother to get in Presearing is level 7. Usually it involves all the quests in there, maybe skipping 1 or 2 boring ones. I just get so sick of the soloing in there I end it as fast as I can while still having a good character.

Well my main has already finished missions and ALL bonuses as well. He's unlocked all skills for 4 jobs, ranger, mezmer, monk and elementalist. While I could easily go and get another couple characters acsended (like that is supposed to be some sort of difficult accomplishment???) I'd rather see how far I can push something that wasn't ever intended.

I also agree, the presearing area is one of the nicest looking areas in the game.

There is however one huge problem with getting to level 16 presearing. When you hit level 13 the regular char would stop giving XP. Only the 4 level 10 Char bosses would give XP and by that point they would only give about 64 to 32 each kill. So at level 13 you'd have to get to and kill those 4 bosses about 450 times, give or take 50 times. I am guessing this is why most people never say they've seen someone over level 13 presearing.

Also to clarify, yes I meant is it totally impossible to SALVAGE out a rune from a piece of armor presearing. I've gotten tons of runes to drop in Northlands, but so far always salvage out cloth, hides or iron ingots and the like. I just wasnt sure if there was like a 1% chance of getting the rune out or whatnot with a regular salvage kit. In my opinion there should at least be that tiny chance, but oh well. So far I'd say I've tried on about 15 or so runes in armor with no luck. It just reminds me of trying to get fur squares out of char hides back in the day with a expert salvage kit. Like 1 in 10 or more tries got you a fur, usually just got the tanned hide. Figured maybe like 1 in 100 tries with a regular I might get a rune.

It's easy and FAST to get to level 7. It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get to level 8. It takes about 2-3 hours (depending on headache level at this point) to get to 9. Doing all the quests at that point will take you to 10. If you don't mind dying alot, you can get to 11-12 fairly easy in the Northlands.

My threshold is after level 8. I ran quests to get to 9.

I'm at level 11 now. It took 3 Northlands "Kill all Charr" runs to level up to 11 from level 10. It looks like it will take about 4 or 5 runs to hit 12. At 11 I can take on almost all the mobs in the Northlands solo. The groups with more than one archer are too tough still though. Once I manage to find a purple shield or purple sword I'll be in much better shape there.

The annoying part is, even if you can do it alone, you need someone to open the gate for you. I mean sure they can leave right after, but you have to keep finding people...

Edit: And yes, the major reason why I kept the latter four of my five created characters in Pre-Searing Ascalon until level 10-11 is because post-searing anything is utter crap.

Pre-searing = awesome.

Yup, anyone with a high level friend can be walked through that. Honestly there isn't ANYTHING in PvE that is difficult. Technically you could get to droknar's at level 2 if someone wanted to get you there. Would be amusing to sit at Ring of fire at level 4 or so LFG though

Have to be level 3 to get out of pre-searing.

..but yeah..

I (with my level 20 Ranger) could run a level 3 to Beacon's Perch easily. Get an experienced runner from there and you have a level 3 sitting in Droknar's :P

Actually you dont, in Beta you had to be lv 3 to get out of pre-searing, but now there is no level requirment, however if you do just a couple of quests for your skills it is hard to leave before lv 2.

You do still need a secondary class before leaving though.

I don't see the point in staying Pre-searing until lvl 16...
It's boring and I don't think you get much from doing it (except the runes).
It isn't much fun either... after that you could just run through missions... but is that fun?

I left at lvl 7, and that was easy (I say that in case some of you level just because they're afraid of that PvP test. It's not difficult, if you lose, try again... I got it at the first time, though)

Just get the skills, armor and a good weapon and then leave. It'll be much more fun.

You pass even if you lose. The PvP test doesn't realy affect anything.

Theoretically you could fight your way up to level 15 only by killing monsters (Northland Charr towards the end) without doing any quests. Then, when you've reached 15, so killing doesn't gain you any XP any more, you could do all the quests, which will still give you XP. This might get you enough XP to reach level 16.

Having said that, let me emphasize the word "theoretically", because it would take ages to reach level 15 only by killing monsters and boring as hell to do it. Nobody would want to do it. What for?

Personally I recommend to leave pre-searing at level 7 or 8. You can reach that easily within a few hours of playing and then you're well prepared for the real thing.

Oh trust me I KNOW I should leave at 7 or 8. I'm just not leaving intentionally. It's actually kind of funny the stuff you can find in northlands. I just got a purple shield that's 14 armor and damage reduction 2. Pretty damn good for the TUTORIAL ZONE.

I had a lvl 13 Monk, but it really did take long, and I got bored, he had the collectors armor, painted full black, did all quest, fully explored the map. But I was bored anyway, so I desided to take him to Post-Searing anyway

I think it's stupid after all, because it was really high, but well, it's not that bad.

Thats a bit pointless, I rather enjoy pve. I get to droknars at level 12 or so and get the max AR armor, then go back and finish ascension. Also, the unexplored woodland area in pre searing has a few nice suprises.. that i have no understanding of whatsoever. They aren't well-known though, and you can only get to them during pre searing.

Yeah there are several really pretty dead ends hidden in presearing, with no enemies in them at all. I'm up to level 13 now and 64% into next level

I still haven't done ANY quests either.

I can solo groups of 4 charr now unless it's 2 shaman & 2 hunters...hate that combo. At 13 the level 8 regular charr give 32 xp and the 4 bosses give 96 each. Of course with a teammate that is halved to 16 & 48.

Wish you could salvage runes presear! I get so many in Northlands.

I made it out of pre-seer at lvl 1. I only did the quests required to get out of it and was like 100 xp short of lvl 2. I need to get someone to run that char to Hell's Precipice and beat the game at the lowest possibel level. (Never till a monster, only get 1K from each mission). I wonder what lvl I would be. I think I just came up with a challenge for the next week.

My lowest lvl so far is my lvl 8 10 HP tank monk at the temple of ages.

Well I hit level 15 presearing now. After doing some calculations, level 17 is the highest you can get presearing. The boss Charr would give 16 xp at level 16 (solo...8xp in a team). If you did the ridiculous number of runs, killing the 4 bosses each time to hit 17, the total xp from the quests would still not be enough to push you to 18.

That said, level 15 is the highest I've seen presearing. That level 15 being myself.

If you see Muffy Gutentight ingame, that me, being stoopid!
