I've picked up swords classified as Scimitars and Short Swords before, and I'm also fairly sure I've had Daggers dropped before, but not 100% certain.
Having duel-wield weapons has been discussed multiple times, and I'm fairly sure it has been shot down multiple times by multiple people.
Crossbows have also been discussed before, and unless we were going to move away from the real physics of a crossbow that were discussed in your original thread on crossbows (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=1765), then I'd have to say no to that one.
For throwables: the first thing that comes to mind would be me wondering who would ever equip rocks as their primary weapon? Secondly, you have whips listed as throwables. I'd be open to throwing knives/axes/javelins, but not to throwing rocks and cracking whips.
Two-handed swords and axes would also be an option, the attack rate would obviously have to be lowered and their base damage raised slightly more than that of their one-handed counterparts.
Having a one-handed hammer wouldn't seem natural, since it'd seem most effective when you're using both hands. The damage of the one-handed hammer would have to drop significantly, but I thinking one-handed hammers would be, in real life, naturally unwieldly. I'd be iffy about maces/flails as well.
Double-sided blades and swords: No, especially if they were going to be like how Darth Maul's lightsaber is. It wouldn't be realistic at all, and I don't remember ever hearing of such a sword. But if you find me a bunch of pictures and whatnot with double-sided swords like the ones you want, then I'll rethink it.
Tall Dude
Ya, but it would be nice to have a crosbow........Whatever though, and also where could i get a better bow???
Sin
Bows come from drops. Better bows are luck of the drop. I built mine from a flat bow, bow of warding, and shocking short bow.
Tall Dude
Built yours....Ive made my own armour, but how do you make a bow, from that wood they drop right, but i never saw anyway to make a good bow?
Sin
Okay, first you identify the bow, especially if it is yellow or blue lettered. The identification kit will say it's a "blah blah bow of warding" then you get some message about the "bow grip of warding is unlocked." Now use an expert salvage kit (I only use those to get an unlocked item like that) and the bow is replaced by the bow grip. Now say you have another bow, I had a flat bow of piercing at the time, I just double clicked the bow grip and clicked the bow I had. Later I found a shocking short bow, did same thing, got the bow string, did the double click and poof got a shocking flat bow of warding.

one word: BETA. i'm pretty sure the developers promised tons more weapons for release.
as for guns. don't like em. muskets? really out of place. haha... flint-lock muskets weren't around in medieval times. best you could probably do is a hand-cannon.
crossbows? don't like em. they'd need a new class since rangers are skilled bowmen and crossbowmen would just be cheap and quickly trained soldiers with no expertise in anything except for pulling a crank, and pulling a trigger. I think they completely disagree with the theme of the ranger, and lets not even get on to guns. my ranger isn't a 1800s early american settler.
flails, maces, spears, etc., good. for expansion.
double bladed swords? haha... no. Darth Mauls lightsaber is more of a Jo staff than anything. It's just a laser killing machine staff.
2 handed swords and axes. expansion. i hope.
1 handed hammers. expansion. i hope.

One thing I wonder about, is how new weapon types will be handled when it comes to attributes. If two-handed swords were added, wouldn't warriors need a two-handed sword mastery attribute? Likewise for polearms, or anything else? And if you add an attribute to the warrior, you kind of have to add an attribute to the other classes for balance. Except it wouldn't be balanced, because you're just adding an attribute to the other classes so that they match the warrior and you have to force some sort of new gameplay concept on each class, when it may not need one. With the way this game works, there would be a lot involved in adding additional weapon types. I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see more, but I definately hope they come up with a good framework for how to make it work.
Weezer_Blue
I don't think adding attributes for other classes would be necissary. I don't think any (decent) warrior uses all his attributes at once, probably just one weapon attribute. All it would do is open up choices for originality and such.
William of Orange
I also don't think that having two-handed swords would require another Attribute to be added; it'd stay in the same category as Swordmastery, but the specs of the actual sword would need to be tweaked for balancing sake. Attack rate would have to be slowed to some extent. Not sure what you would do with base damage, since I believe the max base sword damage is 15-22; possibly increase the range from 15 to 23/24? Any ideas how you'd be able to balance it nicely?
But then another thought which just occured to me would be Skills. Would skills for one-handed swords work the same with two-handed swords, or would it be necessary to add two-hand specific skills? That would definitely be a problem in my book...

All right, granted, you wouldn't need another attribute for two-handed swords, but I still think you'd need one for certain weapon types. How would you handle something like spears and polearms? I know that's another one I've heard people mention in the past.
As far as skills go, that's a tough call... I'd say just allow the current sword skills to work with them, but I'm horrible when it comes to balance issues, so I have no idea how that would end up affecting things.

Spears/polearms/maces/flails/any throwable weapons would require an entirely new Attribute, yes, since it wouldn't be building upon any current weapon system that is currently in place. Unless, of course, you somehow count maces in the same boat as hammers, but it's highly unlikely that anybody would support that train of thought. That's why I'm still supporting my original reply, where I only gave my support to two-handed swords, possibly throwing weapons (but not much support), and possibly one-handed hammers, though I'm still really iffy on that.
I would like to think that you'd still be able to use the current Sword skills if you there were to be two-handed swords, since it's still just a skill involving a sword, regardless of the type of sword you use. And besides, now that I'm thinking about it again, if new two-handed sword skills were added, then wouldn't that mean that you would have to add a new Attribute to modify the amount of damage or condition length that skill could cause? Unless the skills were not linked to any Attribute; but then how good could the skills be made? Not very good in my opinion.

Anyway, Rapiers might work, but who would use them? They'd look cool with Mesmers, but that's not what Mesmers do.

it would be fun to havea ''first ever made'' experimental old fashion gun for fun... back fire attack 50% blows u up

Double bladed sword (eg. Darth Maul's lightsabre) |
If at all, I could see only this one weapon being added, and only for Monk classes (which I don't make myself), and it would be aligned with Smiting Prayers as a sort of battle focus doing about the same damage as a sword. That, I think, would make for an interesting variation to the smiting monk. ( some of them do tend to have this suicidal fixation with getting into combat )
The drawbacks? Well you only have monk armor, and you wouldn't get to hold a real focus in your other hand being this would be two-handed. (so there goes weilding a shield too)
Why would this sound even remotely viable as inclusive option? Between all my in-game experience and all the screenshots/videos people have made or posted monks seem to have this relationship to real life Tibetan Lore. Forgive my lack of brain function its late...can't remember the name of them. The arial acrobatics that this class has unerringly displayed has hinted to me to some degree as to what inspiration was drawn into them.

Hmm, I am loving this game. I love the way how it is story driven, not "Well, in two years something is going to happen" - driven.
And there is nothing more than what I like to hear than that heavy thunk sound when you hit an enemy over head with a hammer. ...It just makes me... so happy!
But, what I find in this game, is that it lacks variety in weapon.
All axes are single wield.
All Swords are single wield.
What I am absolutely craving is a giant, two handed Great Sword! Barbarian style! ..However, I was kind of dissapointed at the fact that there is none.
What are your thoughts of dual wielding weapons? Or how about more two handed weapons, like giant axes?
What about the idea of Crossbows? They'd shoot faster and do more damage then bows, but they would be harder to find and only have 2/3 the range of that of a bow.
Anyways, post your weapon suggestions here.
Thanks for your time!

Hmm, what about Foils? (You use them for fencing) that would be neat looking... the mesmer could use it, heh.
Or nunchucks.. (A little too easter, maybe?) Or.. throwing stars for that Ninja-wannabe?
Although... no one really uses throwables... *Looks at Diablo 2... and any other game that had throwing stars and whatnot*
