This problem started about two weeks ago. About 80% of the time I play Guild Wars I get the blue screen of death. I log in, walk around, and BAM, the screen turns black and the blue screen we all love so much pops up regarding a BIOS error. Does anyone know what to do?
System Specs:
512MB RAM
Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (with 96MB video memory, works great on low settings up till now)
2.80 Ghz Processor
Sudden Crashing: BIOS error
Phenron
Phenron
Anyone?
Omega X
The only thing that I can say is: Get a video card.
Night
a) Only happens with GW or is GW about the only thing you use now so you aren't sure if its only GW?
b) What diagnostics have you run (HDD tests, Memory Tests, etc)?
c) What have you added or changed immediately preceeding the crashes?
d) Case interior clean (no dust, no grime, etc.)?
e) Any fans recently quit working (several bios have a diagnostics that checks on speed of processor fans and whether or not they are working at optimum speed)?
f) have you updated drivers recently? I see that as an issue with several video cards, not sure if that can happen with onboard graphics.
g) Has the machine been moved recently (immediately prior to the crashing)?
h) Do you have a spare video card you can try or can you purchase a cheap (you can get 128 mb cards now for under 80 bucks either online or at several retailers like Best Buy)? Heck just looked at newegg.com and there are a couple 256 mb agp cards for under 60 bucks, the price of the game.
New Egg Video Cards
These should keep you busy for a minute or two.
