Is forcing people to smell your armpits abuse?
Lucon
A few days ago in Lion's Arch, I took my mesmer's shirt off, then went and stood next to monks in a way that makes it look like they're smelling my armpits. I love doing this to monks because their models are always shorter. Anyway, I was following one around, not actually saying anything but everytime she stopped stopping next to her in the correct position, and she said something to the effect of "stop or ill report u." So my question is, can I get reported for doing this?

jerks like you spoil it for many people

You gotta be a few chips short of a motherboard to even post that as a question...
I know I'd be reporting any lower form of life that annoys me continuely in the game.

unless you get consent from another player to perform such act and take a screenie for fun, you're ruining other's gameplay...
try doing that in RL, and see if you'll get arrested.

Lol, it is a dumb question, but getting reported and then being punished for it would be a little overboard.

oh good if the whining has reached this point then maybe we should change the name of the game to Report Wars and just see how many people we can report, by the way, try running around with a pet off of a leash in real life, you can lose the pet and be fined, and try standing in front of someone and not letting them by, like in one of the missions, in real life that is sexual harrassment, so as long as guild wars is real life now i think we need lawyer henchmen we can take with us, and the ability to sue others for gold.

If you honestly believe that this is a legitimate way of treating others then you have just as serious of problems as the OP.
Sir Maddox
At least pick the good looking Mesmer face. And that hair? What are you thinking. Geeze, people these days.

Following someone around and doing ANY emote on them after they ask you to stop is abuse. It doesn't matter what you were doing - if you're going out of your way to do it to her and she asks you to leave her alone, you have to leave her alone.
Aaaaagh
Why...why....why do you even do this? Get a life, if you are not mentally capable of getting a life, then go watch TV or bother your mom for some TATER TOTS!
DrSLUGFly
do believe the issue here isn't armpits or leashes... or even lawyer henchies (though that's pretty damn cool
) but just plain harrassing someone. Since, unlike in real life, you don't have the option to slap, knock out teeth or anything other kind of retaliation other than public flaming... which does little since most griefers seem to enjoy it, a possibility to report would be nice. Another need for an ingame police function. This isn't about whining or being too sensitive with the report function (report wars??? wtf dude) it's about not having any other "stfu and leave me alone!" function.

that's part of the lawyer skill set
"Liability"
-Liability
Targetted player's weapons and items are labelled for safety for 10 seconds. Using these weapons or items will result in 5-45 dmg and loss of 10 gold. (att: litigation)
Let's try to add to it.
-Class Action
target ally loses 1-3 gold per second for 10 seconds. At the end of this enchantment, all enemies lose 5-10 gold each (att: solicitation)
-Contempt
target ally gets targetted by all mobs while losing 10% of their current gold. (att: public defense)

hahahaha good post, but seriously, if you can report someone for where they are standing, because it looks like you are sniffing their armpit, thats just stupid, and it will be abused.
Ketendra
Its not for where they are standing, its for following the person around and continuing to do it - which is considered harrasment.

I lied.
Why should HE have to leave a district, HE is the one being abused, and should not have to do anything for it to stop. I really wish there were special districts that were pay to play only, just so I could avoid all you mucktards. Wow, Im gonna go post that idea.
EmperorTippy
Whats really fun is to run around inside of a person your height. I had my elmantalist looking like a warrior is was great. He kept going WTF whys my face different? (Classic W/Mo) I stayed with him for 5 miniutes and he never even realized what I was doing. He kept screaming WTF? Does ne1 else have a bug were their face is different?.

If someone tells you to stop doing something, and you continue to do it, then it can be considered harrasment.
Within reason.
Whats reason? well - this game is a PvP game, and if you are in the arena belting someone with an axe, and thry ask you to stop - well - umm - sorry - but the game IS beating people with axes
But the social behaviour, if you are interacting with someone, and they let you know they dont like it, then continuing to do it is harrasment.

WHY SHOULD SHE HAVE TO LEAVE TO AVOID HAVING HER FUN SPOILED?
FloridaFringe
"she could ahve easily left the district she was in"
This was the same lame excuse for abusive behavior that was given for those that supported in-town casinos. The devs proved to use with the removal of dice from towns that they don't agree with this assessment. I thank them for that, as this is the most ridiculous response possible for such harassment.
If you can’t see the problem with the idea that having fun equates to ruining someone else’s enjoyment then you might want to return to the elementary school playground. Just watch out for the recess monitors.

Lighten up guys, it's not like he's destroying someone else's property. People today are such weenies.

Oh I posted into pay-to-play post before getting here.... weird reported as new DOH
Lawyer henchmen.
Skill:
- Restricting order
Sacrifice 10% of your gold to prevent target from getting within 100' of you. He gets 5 damages in the (bottom) if he gets nearer.
Seriously though, a little fun is ok - I think it's pretty funny what the guy did. OF COURSE, "fun" is when you do it once. If he/she had to tell you that she'd report you you probably didn't listen to the first couple of "stop it".
didn't your mom tell you a good game is a short game?
Agreed with aaaaaaaagh except that hey man, cool down. Jerks are everywhere, that can't be helped. Einstein said that the two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity. He knew his stuff.

It would be the same thing as if I was to continually get the trade offer window to appear for you so that you couldn't proceed with what you were trying to do, such as trying to trade with another player. If this restricted you in performing the normal functions of the game and you asked me to stop then I should stop. If I then continued so that you were unable to play the game as it was meant to be played without leaving to a different district then you would have the right to report me for harrassment.
RSX77
This is exactly why I use International districts (usually completely empty), and keep local, trade, and emote channels OFF at all times.

That's the thing though; it's not about just standing there. It's about following around for the sole purpose of upsetting someone. Since the other person involved asked the guy to stop then he should have respected that request and stopped. Instead he continued to follow her around with ill intent.
Maybe she was trying to take some screenshots of her character. Maybe she was testing out some dye mixtures. These are just a few examples of how this behavior could ruin someone’s enjoyment even before they ask you stop.
The keys here are being asked to stop but continuing to follow around. It's not necessarily the act in and of itself, as it actually sounds kind of funny, but rather the bad intentions that came along with subsequent acts.
