Where do black dyes drop the most and where? Pre-searing?

funny its around Nolani/North Wall that I got the only black dye I ever had drop for me. Might have to try this advice and black dye farm there.

Quick update people ANET added so many grawl its near impossible to kill them off before they kill the stone eles! New spot right outside serenity temple! Loads of stone eles all around got 1 balck and 3 blue dye from there this morning.

is this post because black dyes cost like 4 plat and you want a piece of the cake?

No, some of us would like a full set of black armor without paying 20k for dye.

I didn't find any black nor silver dye with my first character even after I finished the whole game with him. It was after I started new guildies in lower levels that I found a black dye, from a charr.

The 2nd black dye I found was with my necro in the Ruins of Surmia. I love how he can solo 3-4 charr of my same level.

I've only ever got 2 black dye drops i think. The first one was when i was doing the captured son mission on shing jea island, it was just absolute fluke that i got a black dye off a crimson skull hunter. The other one wasn't as much of a surprise, i was having a good uw run while 3 man trapping and i had already got 4 keys and 2 ectos in 30 mins(the other party members had nothing)when a black dye dropped off a smite crawler. I didn't realise that they were still very uncommon in uw and i was very lucky. I sold it easily for about 9k at the time.

I've ever got like 4-5 black dyes.
Kryta mission , 2 Underworld, outside Lionsarch and cant remember the last one

the best dye drop rate in the game is from the Bandits around Fort Ranik in Pre.
i have gotten 3 black 4 white 3 silver and numerous other dyes (13 yellow for ex.) in just a few days
some may say its a slow farm but its fun and its in the beautiful Pre-Searing

ive only ever got 1 black dye, that was from a boss in the 'Thirsty river' mission, got 2 whites though, 1 from something random in old ascalon, one from a hydra(i think) outside seekers passage.
I have also heard that Dyes drop the most from pre-searing bandits

Out of the 4 black dyes i got 3 came from undead around Lions Arch. Got them in full teams as well so personally i think it drops more regurlary there. Never farmed undead for it so it isn't proven.

I've gotten two in pre-searing, both in the catacombs, and two in post. One in the desert right near kephket and the other was... somewhere else, I don't recall.

I used to keep a character in Pre-Searing to dye farm, I got a far larger number of dyes there then I seemed to in Post. However now I am almost certain regarding black dyes, that they are evenly distrubted all over the game.

I have gotten 6 Black Dyes in Pre, and 7 in Post, most of which came from areas around Old Ascalon. When I was farming Gargoyle Skulls for Wintersday I got 3 black dyes in one day in the same area outside of Nolani Academy.

I've gotten:

1 from the Grawl outside Port Sledge (was skill capping and one dropped it)
1 from the New UW (forget what dropped it)
1 during the Bloodstone Fen mission

My first char got the New UW and Grawl ones, but only after my third char got the Bloodstone Fen one.

I think they drop alot in pre-searing because the enemies there don't have much chance of dropping other items. In post-searing the enemy can drop hundreds of different items, but in pre-searing there are far less possibilities. This leaves alot more chance for dropping dyes. I've had at least 20 black dye drops in pre-searing, half of them were from Charr.

Only black dye I've ever gotten was in Adahsim when I was getting treasure.

After reading what you guys have posted, I think I'm pretty lucky. I've had around 5-6 black dyes drop for me

My first one was when I made my very first char (he was on the way to Ashford Abbey), the other times have all be in post-searing

I've had pretty good luck with Black dye. I've gotten 10 drops over my GW career (8 months). 2 were in pre-searing and the others were scattered thru out the game. I disctinctly remember at least 2-3 in post-ascalon area, so yes low-levels can drop dye.

On the other hand, I have never never ever gotten a white dye drop. I've only seen white drop once. Ever! And it wasn't for me. White seems to be much rarer than black, so why isn't it worth more?

In almost 2 years ive only ever found 2 black dyes, 1 in pre and one in post Ascalon (Old Ascalon area), ive yet to see a white or a brown dye.
