Where do black dyes drop the most and where? Pre-searing?

I get a lot in pre and post about 21 over 19 month of playing some months I get zip
other months I can get 2 or 3 it's just luck of the drop.
Pre outside barradin's estate in Green hills and outside Fort Ranik killing the Skale
Post a good place I found is doing Nolani mission like this screeny from 2 days ago I have had a good deal of them there drop just open the gate not run around the back and ambush em.


Forgot to mention I remeber my first black drop very well
I sold it for 1g to merchant as I was totaly new to the game and didn't know any better

Since I started playing about 6 months or so ago, I've had four black dye drops. One was in pre, one was in Pockmark Flats, and I can't quite remember where the other two dropped. I still have all four tucked away in my vault, and there they will stay until I get some prestige gear for one of my characters.

Never got any black dye presearing on 4 characters that I started and kept in pre seer for a long time to level up and clear whole map. Have gotten about 5 black dye drops in random places post sear.

I've had about 3-4 drop in Pre & about 7-10 drop in post. But I obviously spend WAY more time in .post

Pre is the best place to pick up Black dye, and i allways solo it.
have 12 back dye on my PVP mule.

I received a silver dye in pre with my first character. I also received about 3 blue dyes. Nobody was interested in the silver in pre However, blues sold out like hot cakes. I ended up having to sell the silver to a post merchant since nobody (at the time I was on), wanted it.

I guess it really depends on what time of day you play on. I have never seen any black dyes yet though.

I got 4 black dye in pre-searing in 3 days a couple weeks ago. I now keep at least one character in pre just for the dye drops. I haven't found a specific area to farm dye there though. Don't know if I've seen any Ice or Stone elementals drop dye, but then I didn't think gargoyles did until I got 2 dyes this evening in an hour - one was brown but the other was red.

I haven't gotten as many dye drops soloing trolls and giants in Talus Chute as I have just running around in pre-searing.

Here is my pre-char with the dyes I've collected in 13 hours of play.

well, since one of the latest updates it doesn't matter anymore if you go solo or with 7 henchmen, the drops will always be like the party is full. however the drops are also gonna be the same no matter how many times you enter the same area. I'm wondering if presearing will still have more dye drops after this update

Got 1 black in 3 months of play. Got it last night, from a monolith in the Desolation, in NF.

Plenty other dyes, though. Esepcially in Post, when farming the low-level monsters with my Protector of Tyria Ranger It was before the loot scaling update, though...

the only black dye i ever got was from a grasping darknes in UW. i solo farmed it with my war so yea.. (p.s i also got 4 ectos that run =)

I found 6 black dyes on my level 20 pre searing monk and i have gotten like 12 i think in post on a character with 3.5 million exp.

For some bizarre reason I've gotten 3 black dyes in the last two days, all on the same character. Each one was within an hour of landing on a different continent.

1. Was from an Afflicted Ritualist during the second 15att point quest.
2. Was from a Tengu Wild just North of Lion's Arch
3. Was from a Kournan Scribe during the 'Hunted' quest.

It's weird, mainly because in the last two days I've had one more black dye drop than I have had since I got Prophecies on the day of release.

LOL isn't it fun talking about black dye? I have never gotten one, but my son, who played GW for literally 5 minutes and then went back to WoW, got a black dye in that time.

From reading all these posts - I really think that the stats on drops are messed up. How can someone play for 2 years and not get one black??? And others get them regularly? Someone suggested that the randomness factor may be "set" for a particular character and it looks like that to me from reading these posts, though that would be pretty friggin annoying if true. Although I have created characters that got WAY WAY more dye than my current one gets (aka - none since lvl 12). Then I deleted them...
