Builds

I always hear people talking about a particular team build. I am interested in finding some cross references that show how these particular builds work and what skills are needed. Is there a site that lists some effective builds?

Poke around in the strategy discussion forum. A lot of team builds are posted there.
MCS
The most effective build is teamwork .
Anyway
Smite (monks using smite skills in particular AoE ones)
Aftershock (warriors with knockdown and eles)
Spike (eles all hitting same target with a high damage spell)
Balanced (This is just what I call a well blanaced but not so great build, with a few
monks few warriors ranger ele nec, etc....)
Mass rangers (they spam spirits then focus on targets, it's messy)
Summon (Most of these I see being used are korean teams and usually a spike or aftershock group with 2-3 necs and make mass summons, it's terribly annoying to find your targets.)
Noob (this is 1 person with 4 henches, very leet, phear it.)
Good luck.

I only really know of two, they have a basic theme, and theres always a few leftover slots for ANY character with a build similar.
Spike Build- Basically focused on doing massive amounts of damage to a single target as fast as possible, aeromancers are common.
Spirit Spam/Anti-spike Build - Rangers Spam spirits such as quickening zypher/frozen soil/natures renewel to counter their opponents. In order to take the side-effect from the spirits themselves, they first make sure the party uses little to no enchantments-costly energy skills.
Minion Spam - I haven't seen/used this one so I can only explain it in a very general manner. They have teamates suicide before the battle begins and the necromancer(s?) use them as corpses to build a massive minion army. They ressurect and repeat the process until it begins, I've heard it works well.
PUG - Random pickup group. No particular theme, just try to have each role do their part. (Warriors damage/interrupt, monks heal, mesmers counter, necros curse, rangers condition/interrupt, elementalists damage).

You may not realize how powerful rangers are, until you bumped into an avicara fierce team of 8 in mineral springs... It was a very messy fight even with healing seeds.
