Hey all

Have made my new PVE Warr/Mo and although she is near enough a mountain against most creatures I am having problems with those creatures that cast Shatter/Strip Enchantment - such as Sages and Howlers.

Basically, if i run into 2 howlers/sages or more when alone (no henchies or players), i usually end up on the ground.

My Build is loosely as follows at the moment but will of course be changes made as i aqquire new skills:

11 Swords (Will eventually be 16 or possibly Axes 16)
8 Healing
5 Strength (will eventually be 8+)
1 Tactics (will eventually be 8+)

Droknars Armour mix of:

Ascalon Gloves (Minor Strength)
Knights Boots (Minor Tactics)
Wyvern Hauberk (Minor Absorbtion)
Wyvern Leggings (Minor Vigor)
Duelist Helm (Minor Swords)

15-22 fiery longsword of fortitude +15% dmg when enchanted

AL 12 Shield - +45 health and 2 dmg reduction when enchanted

Am using the following skills:

Frenzy (using this sparingly - certainly not near Sages and Howlers)
Sever Artery
Gash
Orison of Healing (bit pants this one)
Healing Breeze
Mending
Sprint
Restore Life

So, any help regarding how I can better stand up to these Sages and Howlers would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I am interested in some sage advice as well.

All I can say is that mending is less effective later in the game. I found it was always being stripped and the Warrior's lack of energy means tyou can't bury the enchantment under other buffer chants.

I will say that Sever will not serve you as well as you'd like since it is useless against undead hordes and others like golems. Galrath Slash is a must in my book and adrenaline dependent.

I still have not found a reasonable alternative to frenzy to charge my adrenaline so I still use it. I did not like the time and speed of flurry.

Someone will come along and enlighten us, I'm sure.

You want Adrenaline? Battle Rage is your answer.

You don't want to be stripped of enchantments? I'm sorry, but upon closest inspection, it's logically impossible to be anti-stripable. [or anti-anything for that matter]

You're going to have to find a build that's not enchantment heavy. I run W/N that uses hexes, and I very RARELY run into a sage / howler [or rather never] who has remove hex.

Lessen damage dealt to you rather than trying to heal it. It's more energy efficient that way. Why bring Restore Life? You're alone. That's a wasted skill slot for something better. [like a tactics stance to protect you]

I got a shout: "For Great Justice" that doubles adrenaline accumulation. That seems to eliminate the downside of getting todgered by extra damage that Frenzy has. I'm guessing there's something a bit better further up the tree.

Double the energy cost of Frenzy and a recharge time of 45 secs. That is not a resonable alternative to Frenzy. Frenzy is recharged before it expires.

Hmmm, Battle Rage. Wasting your elite skill on a stance which ends whenever you use a non-attack spell, drains all your adrenaline when it ends and requires Tactics attribute points to make better is not a reasonable alternative methinks.

Upon further review, Battle Rage is a waste IMHO, unless you invested in Tactics already, and then it's still a waste.

You could bump your tactics up then use your healing signet for additional healing instead of those 2 enchantments. To offset the defensive penalty pick up a stance or defensive shout like Watch Yourself. I know that most of your gear is set to do better when you are enchanted, so it's not the greatest solution, but it might keep you standing.

I may be wrong about this, but I would recommend taking out the Necro type Dwarf first...not only does he strip your enchantment, but he also uses soul feast which allows him to eat corpses and gain a significant amount of health back...but in larger groups, I think you're pretty much screwed unless you rely on Tactic based stances, which may not even help that much still....BTW Krysten, if you're solo'ing this, why bring restore life?

Good point regarding the Restore Life.

The reason is that when I started out i was thinking I would at some point soon I'd need henchies. Also I occasionally group with guildies.

However, now you mention it if I'm definately solo'ing an area or mission i should ditch it for something useful. Think i just got into the habit of it being there and did not really think about it lol

Just will have to remember to re-equip it when i go out with guildies because being a Warrior/Monk its likely I will be last standing at times.

P.S - Is Berserkers Stance not a good Alt to Frenzy? Thinking of using it later.

Battle Rage is Strength-based.
