i have a Me/N and in pve its boring for me, mesmer is much better in pvp imo so i suggest N/Me for soul reaping with minions.

Hmm I figured the Me/N would be dull...
What about a N/W?

What about a N/W? You can do pretty much with any classes. I think the problem with mesmer is that the real good skills come late in the game (some might confirm). But then again it's depatable: backfire is a good caster killer. I created I necro/me wich is now entering the desert and ended up with a pure necro (you can do that too). Problem is that the utilisation of only one spell didn't really justify to invest points into that competence.

You can have success with n/r, n/w, n/e, n/mo and I'm quite sure even with n/me.

On one of my characters I use Necro' as my secondary prof', and I don't really see a need for what you can only do with Necro' as your primary. However, my main prof' is Monk, so it may be an entirely different case with Mesmer...

OK, I am a N/W with
10 +2 blood
11 +1 curses
10 swords

with curses you can deal the aoe damage for pve through mark of pain along with weakening the enemy
blood will keep you alive so that it is actually possible to tank and sword simply deals damage

if you want to be a primary casting necro i would think death would be best, most of the direct damage spells are there

Speaking as a N/Me - Unless you dump serious points into it soul reaping with anything other than a death build is not enough to keep a constant energy supply going. Once you get it up to 8+ it can be a real boon, however it's still not enough to count on.

Necro spells also cast very slowly, and benefit greatly from fast casting. I strongly recommend a mes/nec, and use inspiration for energy recovery, which also has a lot of things which go well with necro debuffs.
