how do you extract weapons upgrades?

this happened to me the first time, i got a blue ram hammer that has two upgrade items,i thinik one is a shift and something else (can't remember) so i when back to town and remember that i always use expert salvage kit to get runes from armors. I get the expert salvage kit and use it on the hammer, and nothing came out. no weapons upgrade or anything except iron inget. So what salvage do i use if i want to get weapons upgrade?

Sometimes with weapons you just get crafting material.

You do use an expert kit, sometimes you get crafting materials.

I really dislike that too. Get a good blue/purp/gold weapon or other object that unlocks a rune or weapon upgrade and you salvage it with an expert kit and get crafting materials.

Kind of disappointing

not too awful I guess. Bothersome though.

expert salvage doesnt guarantee 100% success rate (unless it's runes from a drop, but not your own armor).

once i tried to expert salvage 3 purple items with weapons upgrades, but all 3 in a row returned stupid crafting material

another time i tried to expert salvage a +5 energy from a gold staff, guess what it gave me? 2 damn freaking wood planks
good thing i got another gold staff drop with +5 energy and this time i managed to extract the staff head and sold it for lots of gold

so far since playing this game from it's release, i've only managed to get 4 gold items, a few purple, and lots of blue that aren't worth much.

it's a game of risk and chance. sometimes you're lucky and sometimes very unlucky.

so extracting runes is better than extracting weapons upgrade using expert salvage kits? funny thing, i can extract all the runes from armor that i got, but when i want to get upgrade, nothing happened
