I personally tried GW on my:
P4 2,2GHz
512MB RAM
Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller

It starts, but runs like crap. As soon as your view extends to beyond 10 metres (when you dont stare at the ground), it drops below 10fps on even the lowest settings. Having a real graphics card would help tremendously, even if its a crappy one. On-board 'cards' just aren't meant for gaming..

The graphics processor is not up to snuff in the thinkpad line. if you are serious about a laptop look at some gaming ones frome these websites:

www.cyberpowerpc.com
www.tigerdirect.com
www.newegg.com
www.ibuypower.com
www.abs.com

Each of these companies have a good selection of low priced gaming laptops that are configurable if you want more power. Another place to try is Best Buys for the HP DV8000 line of laptops. I currently run a DV8315nr which i posted the specs here in a earlier reply, it runs Guild Wars great if you turn down the graphics some.

Being a New Yorker, it is actually way more convenient having a laptop over a pc considering most residents here have to move from place to place since building owners are more into leasing than allowing tenants have permanent stays.

So what laptop would you guys recommend the most that can play GW best w/o the major worry of GW updating to the point it would be useless?

Not A gaming machine by any standards but runs the game great. I play it over the wireless network in my house with no problems at all. I do have all the graphic settings turned up except for AA. Just never messed with AA. Really pleased with this "budget" Laptop.

I'm wondering if any of you are playing on an Intel GMA 950 or X3100 laptops.

It runs great on my old ATI mobility 9600 laptop, but I'm getting a new and more mobile notebook soon, and most of them run the above two gpus.

I am running a Dell 9300 with the aTi x300 graphics card. The game runs in the low 20's for fps. I have 2GB of RAM. I do not use max settings either.

One quick thing: Would Guild Wars play well on Intel 965 Express Family chipset? Because I was thinking of buying it if it could......

What's with the ever increasing amount of resurrections of archaic threads lately?

It's the process of people actually using search (Good) but not reading post dates (Bad).

However, I don't see the problem with rezzing old threads as long as the question is relevant and constructive to what the thread was originally about. But everyone seems to even go hay-wire over that, if a thread isn't allowed to be rezzed, then delete it after it's a year old.

Tooninoot: Yes it will probably run on that.. but I don't know how good.

You'd be better of playing Guild Wars on a laptop with a dedicated graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 8600-m, or the ATI equivalent, whatever that is - either will do) Integrated graphics really doesn't give the best performance in games.

I use to play on an Intel Core Duo 1.6GHz (not Core 2! the original Core!) with Intergrated graphics (GMA 950).

30 FPS steady with vsync enabled.

I think that was the bare minimum to play Guild Wars.
