ohhh im ticked. doppleganger my ass!
Kaylynn Of Ascalon
so here I am. pure healing monk. trying to defeat my doppleganger. one problem. the freak has a WAAAAY better weapon than me. i mean it hits me for -54 damage on average. WTF is that? doppleganger my ass its cheating with better weapons. not to mention it heals itself better than I ever could. what gives?
Kaylynn Of Ascalon
...............im screaming and pounding my desk..............ARGH!
Itbegins
no second class?
OrangeArrow
this isnt the right forum but i hear eay ways to beat him are to use just healing brezze and an empty bar divine boons also suppose to work too
Kaylynn Of Ascalon
my 2nd class is warrior. but i only have attribute points in Healing and devine.
King of Fools
bring heal area. bane signet and a bunch of skills that only work on allies. then beat on him. use bane signet on him when he tries to do heal area. then run away use heal area on yourself. go back beat him some more.
let me know if it works since i am just repeating advice than i haven't tried myself.
on my hammer warrior i just bam bam, knock em down, keep em down, bam bam, shot him down, i shot my twin brother down and as he lay dying he said, "argg how come it only changed half the armor?"

I heard bringing in only healing breeze and retribution allows you to win, since supposedly the doppelganger only uses tech you bring in. But IDK...i coulda sworn he used mez techs that I never ran...but whatever.
Mat Thirteen
yeah, take your skills off besides breeze and he's not so bad...I know what you mean though...I was like "I can't attack too well, but if it's my shadow he'll not be able to either..." I stood corrected when he took out a freaking chaos axe and proceeded to slice me in two...yeah you definately don't want to get too close the that psycho.
Itbegins
ok well get endure pain only have that skill equipped i think its primary att is str which you wont have so no switching attribute s but do go buy a minor vigor or something now as soon as you go in there equip a max dmh sword or something thats dmg while enchanted cause when you in there your enchanted...............k now just hit him with the sword just regular attacks soon youll see his life go down ALOT you use endure pain before he dies and boom you get like 100+ life and he bites it endure pain and healing breeze is good i do endure pain only
sino-soviet
Try to putting Frenzy in your skill bar and try to outdamage him that way.
Itbegins
GOOD IDEA SOVIET ihave never ever considered that........... only thing is he will attack alot faster with his high dmg chaos axe.....maybe get like doylak signet or get something that makes him moves slower that wopuld be good too
Mister Oblivious
Put your attribute points in healing, divine favor and smithing prayers.
Bring 3 skills:Healing breeze, holy strike and banish.(you could bring retrebution too.)
Dont get close to him and keep healing breeze on you at all time, for some reason,he wont even use it.
Attack him with Banish and holy strike.
enjoy!

Run a little search and you'll find there're strategies for any single class to beat the doppleganger, formerly known as mirror self.
Max out your smiting. Bring smites and Frenzy.
Hit him with smites and do NOT use frenzy. He will take double damage from your smites, and you won't take double from his. Simple enough.
If you get close, try-
Bane Signet -> Holy Strike -> Smite
Bane Signet will knock your mirror down, Holy Strike will do full damage, and Smite will hit him just as he begins attacking. Lay down Symbol of Wrath somewhere along the lines, and use Banish as well.
Also, feel free to bring a pointless hex, like Pacifism, and then Smite Hex it when your mirror casts it on you.
Assuming you maxed out smiting (16), you'll deal 242 base holy damage with the 3 skill combo alone, 484 if he used frenzy. 301 base with Banish, 601 if he used frenzy.
90 base, 180 frenzy damage from Smite Hex.
33 base, 66 frenzy damage per second from Symbol of Wrath.
Stick Symbol of Wrath on first before the bane->strike->smite->banish and you'll get 466 combined base holy damage, which is 932 with frenzy on.
Bane Signet
Holy Strike
Smite
Banish
Symbol of Wrath
Smite Hex
Pacifism
Frenzy
You should also beat him within 50 seconds as well.

Yeah, it's not really a doppleganger by any means. His weapons are max-damage, from what I know his attributes are all maxed out (at least I know with my necro I used a blood magic skill, he used the same one and did a LOT more damage, and it was a set-damage skill so no armor mattered), and for some reason he's skilled with a bow, and an axe...when I can't use either...?
I mean honestly, it's not a doppleganger, it's more like "This is how awesome you would be if you could use any weapon with maxed out damage, had the greatest armor, and max damage for all your spells. Have fun trying to kill the little squirt!

Heh, I love that battle since it's all strategy. Once you realize your own flaws, it's really easy to win and is rather an enlightening experience.
PieXags
It has nothing to do with your own flaws, you have to figure out just how much you can make yourself suck---and hope that your doppleganger doesn't realize it. You could have a great guild and great tactics, not flawed in a normal battle by any means. I mean hell, the only reason they'd be flawed in this instance is because the doppleganger is stronger, in every way, than yourself.
Realizing your own flaws? That's nonsense, it has nothing to do with your "flaws". No matter how you beat him, you're just going to be depending on his poor AI. That's what I do anyways.

congratulations on Ascension.
I wish I'd read these things. It took me 8 times of getting my butt kicked using a nearly regular skill bar. When I did win it took 25 minutes. I kept seeing that 10 minute clock tick down but it just disapeared and I kept going 'til I won.
My friends put scourge healing on and got the bonus easily.

I was an E/Mo and just put on Fireball, and put two auras on myself to give me 75% chance to avoid both arrows and melee. Worked really well too. He didn't realize the deal about the auras quickly enough, and tried bows/melee instead of FB. It made me able to avoid damage enough to not take any healing with me, so he didn't get any either.
Than
It so easy for a Mesmer to beat its Doppleganger its not even funny. Well yes it is quite funny. He won't even move out of the Chaos Storm.
Divinitys Creature
Retribution and healing breeze worked for me. Either that or change your secondary to necro, use a suicide necro build and enjoy watching him/her pownzor him/herself.

To beat Doppleganger as monk:
-Put all the points you can into smiting (I don't care where your points currently are; with the 50k XP reward, you get all refund pts. back anyway)
-Put the following skills into your bar:Balthazar's Aura, Symbol of Wrath, bane Signet, Smite, and Holy Strike
-When you fight Doppleganger, Run RIGHT up next to him, and cast in this order:Symbol, BA, Smite, Bane Sig, Holy Strike. Attack, repeat spells if necessary. You should win in <10 seconds
