Lag problems

Everytime i go into a town/city with descent amount of ppl i have lag problems or when im out doing a mission i have lag problems i was wondering if i get more ram(i have 256mb right now) like a 512mb stick would the 256 and 512 add together to make 768mb of ram and also will that stop some of the ram, i think my problem is with the ram cus i have an awesome processer and an awesome graphics card please reply to me.

Yes, increasing your RAM to 768MB will speed up your system greatly. You don't say if you are running Windows XP, but 256MB is the bare minimum JUST to run the OS. Anything above 256MB will definitely help.

Yep, definitely get the extra memory.

Personally though, I would go with 1gig of ram as it's not much more in price than the 512mb and if you get a matched pair, it will help greatly.

768mb is good, 1gig is a lot better. And having matched pairs can also be very beneficial too.

Also, try to get the higher end ram of a company. It may cost more, but its faster. And make sure that the ram is DDR400 or whatever ram you need.

This is koekaine i had to switch my name. If i buy two 512mb ram sticks since i only have two slots would i have to take my 256mb stick out and then put in the two 512mb sticks

Yes, that poor 256MB stick will go into "the drawer of forgotten hardware".
Since you seem to have an older motherboard (two RAM slots) I would definitely check with your PC manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer to ensure your system can handle 512MB sticks.

actually this is not true,

my uncle gave me this computer about 13 months ago and 2 months ago i put more ram in... idk why i waited so long, but when i puled out the 1 stick that was in there, it was 128Mb, and i even played Neverwinter nights and halo on it ...

Well, you might be able to run all this on 128mb, but you'll give the Hard Drive a severe headache. ANd to be honest, giving it this much work to do, with swapping out the data between the memory and the hard drive, the HDD will be constantly working and never stopping to take a breath.

With XP and then gaming, you'll wear your machine out very quickly with low memory. The cost of ram far outways the cost of breaking your harddrive and losing all your data.
