help! error4

hey when ever i finish typing in teh key code for beta i get a could not complete please try in a few minutes(err=4),can sumone plz help me im getting real mad! oh and i got the game today

Not sure, but it might be that setting up an account for the first time needs to happen while the BWE is actually running. The instructs on the set up page says something to that effect, but it led me to believe that only applied to the "friends" pass code, and not to the pre-order owners pass code. I tried using the "friends" pass that I have from my pack, and I got the "err=4" result, also. Which pass code are you trying to use?

Looking at the link I posted, are you sure port 6112 is open on your computer and, if you have a router, on your router?

i have a wireless internet and all connections are open

hmmm, do you play warcraft or have you successfully played warcraft or some other battle.net game with this computer on this wireless access you are using?

If so, and I know this isn't easy to consider, I'd wait until the event starts and try then. The point being to make sure it's not on your end or your isp's end.

You may have played starcraft online before, the point I am getting at is if you have played through this wireless network before or not. If not, please try now if starcraft is on your computer.

If it starcraft signs on fine then it appears the challenge is on Arena.net's end, at least for what I know.

If starcraft won't log-in now with the wireless network then it can be a variety of things but I would check with your wireless service provider first.

If the wireless connection you are on is using the pc in the next room, you need to open the ports on the router connected to that pc, port 6112.

Then you probably have to wait until the beta is open, though i'd keep trying every 30 minutes just to see if the server is merely busy with people trying to register right now. Starcraft connecting helps alot because battle.net and arena.net both use port 6112

I am getting the same error, I play WoW & it uses the same port I believe
( 6112 )..

I sent a note to tech support to check on it, I played in the last BWE with a code from a magazine & I am trying to update my account with my pre-order code now..

We may have to wait till Friday when indeed the next BWE is live, I will post here after I hear from tech support..

You should techincally try the official technical support first. But several people, including myself, are going to be checking the forums actively for those who have problems and need a prompt (and sometimes easy) answer. I know you do not want to hear this but... The BWE does not have to be open for you to set up your account. I set mine up before the Feb BWE. I could not play of course but I did set it up. then when the BWe was live I got in no prob. Did you get your pre-oder from a store of online? If bought from a store maybe you can excahnge it for a Different key and start over. Did you download the client of install the disk in the box you only have to do one or the other Not Both. If nothing else works tru Nsoft support here is a link.

Has anyone thought that this might just be a temporary problem with their server validation at this moment... we've seen different problems before. That's what I was inferring upon, I meant that if you're still having problems when BWE comes... then some of us will be here to help. I hope (and honestly think), this problem will clear up before then.

Yes, I am sure it is just a issue with them getting ready...

I mainly just stopped by the board to see if anyone else had the same problem & if there was answer..

I am sure it will be corrected by Thursday or Friday at the latest, I donot think it is my system because I have played in a BWE before & had no problems...

I am just trying to enter my pre-order code now :-), I have sent a note to tech support like I said above & will post anything I hear back from them :-)
